How often do you have outbreaks with HSV-1 Genitally?
Question: I just found out today that I have HSV-1 Genitally. I only had one outbreak a couple weeks ago which was what prompted me to be tested. I am curious how often others with HSV-1 Genitally have outbreaks with or without daily medication. I know it varies from person to person but I just want to get a range of ideas. Answer: Ive had ghsv-1 for 2 years and ive never had an outbreak other then the first. Sure there have been the occasional white head but it really just looked like 1 random pimple or ingrown hair.. could have been an outbreak but I wouldnt have known the difference. I was freaked out at first and started taking valtrex daily but realized I needed to let my body deal with this itself and ive only had 1 outbreak! Hope that makes your day a little sunnier :) Answer: Everyone is different so it depends on your immune system and the virus. But keep in mind, even without outbreaks present you can still spread the virus if someone performs oral sex on you, or has sex with you (due to periods of asymptomatic shedding, which also occurs more frequently and less frequently for different individuals) so always inform anyone in the future that you might be physical with, as there is a risk to pass it either way.
