I think my bf is having an OB
Question: Hi. my boyfriend informed me on Sunday that he had a little bump on his penis. He showed it to me and it looked like a pimple. A couple of days later (due to him picking it), it was an open soar. He said that the sore didn't hurt all the time but there were times when he experienced pain such as burning especially when he took a shower. To his knowledge, he has never had an OB--what do you all think? I have acyclovir 400 mg and he has been taken those. Answer: I think he needs to see a doctor as soon as possible. Preferably while the sore is fresh for an acurate swab test. Answer: give him the meds, 1 dose, daily or whatever you take when you have a ob. and get him tested soon. Answer: Well. it appears that he is the one who transmitted herpes to me. I was clear before him. However, he hasn't had steady insurance in a few years. He insurance will be effective on June 18th so then he will be able to go to a doctor. He has been taking meds on and off since I found out I had it. My doctor was sympathetic and wrote me a prescription for double the milligrams. Answer: correction...she wrote me double the meds for valtrex (when we can afford it) but only a 400 mg prescription for acyclovir x 2 each day. Until his insurance is effective, I have only been taking one dose. Since he has an "ob" I have told him to take 2 doses per day until it is cleared up. Answer: I think it's really sweet that you are taking care of each other. It's too bad he's having an ob though. :( With the Acyclovir my dr has me take 3 a day when there is an ob and 2 a day for suppressive. Answer: Well. I love him to death. He is my heart and there is no way that I am going to medicate myself and let him possibly suffer. When I had valtrex we would just split the pill...that way at least each of us will get the meds in our system. I feel like in times like this, we have to stick together. No need to point the fingers...just deal with it and be there for one another as much as possible. I will let him know to up the acyclovir to 3 times a day. He said that it's drying up...anything that will speed up the process? He only had one sore... Answer: go to a pharmacy and get the otc domeboro it is a powder that you mix with water and soak a cloth in and apply it like a compress to the sores. It will make them dry up quickly and speed healing and it is something like $12. for a box with a dozen packages. I think you can even mix it in a container and pour part of it on a cloth and save part to use later as long as you don't re-dip the cloth and contaminate it. If you aren't having ob's can't he use the meds instead and you take a small break? if it causes you to have an ob I wouldn't do it but only you know if that is what happens. Otherwise maybe ask your dr for more Acyclovir. My dr prescribes 200 at a time and it adds up to 3 a day before I can renew the scrip. You are doing the right thing taking care of each other I would do the same thing if it was me. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
