All New And "Old" HPS Sufferers Please Read.
Question: Greetings to all, I've lurked on this site for quite some time and never felt the urge to post or share my experience, But because I've read so much information, and read so many of your stories I felt I had to step forward and share mine. Hope is not a word you'd generally associate with a virus/disease for which there is no immediate cure on the horizon, However, for all of you new hps carriers one of the first things you absolutely HAVE to do is REMAIN CALM.I've read a lot of your stories and it appears as if many of you are in a serious panic mode, the virus actually thrives off this emotion believe it or not. First let me give a little history on myself, I'm 37 years old and have had genital herpes for 15 years now. I contracted it from an ex who cheated on me, to give you an idea of how ignorant I was to gh, When my then girlfriend stated she was itching down there I had NO EARTHLY IDEA that it could be herpes, to be totally honest I didn't really even know what herpes was. Lack of education is the # 1 reason for many things in this society. Anyways not to go on a tangent, but I actually took her to the drug store to purchase a female vaginal product by the name of "mycylex" (sp), fast forward a couple days and even though she was itching down there a few days previous.. my stupid ass still had UN-PROTECTED sex with her, and *bam* that was all it took, She honestly didn't know what the hell it was either so I couldn't really be pissed about her giving it to me I was more pissed that she didn't respect me enough to protect herself when she screwed around on me. Approximately 5-7 days after that I awoke to these burning sores and a pain on my genitals that I had never experienced in my life! My first ob was pretty awful, first thing I did was ran to the store and bought some A&D ointment, wrong answer, then I went and bought a steroidal cream, doubly wrong answer! Long story short, went to the doctor and that's when I found out I had contracted an std called genitlal herpes for which there was no cure and these burning sores/blisters will pop up on my genitals and/or testicles for the rest of my natural born life, intermittently, WOW!, and you know? it still didn't really hit me because I honestly didn't know what it was and was literally ignorant enough to not be afraid, sad, etc...As time went on, I learned everything I could possibly learn about this virus, strengthed immune system, no chocolate, peanuts, or foods rich in L-Arginine, etc..etc... Even before Valtrex came out I was adamant about not staying on that Acyclovir because I knew that prolonged usage of a drug like that would eventually render my immune useless to it, so I decided to take a natural approach from day one with this thing, and I can say I've been pretty "lucky", I've had it for so long I literally know when the virus is shedding, when I'm contagious, etc...I've had several girlfriends in these past 15 years, Have had sex un-protected, have had 2 children who's mom did not contract it and had normal pregnancies/deliveries, I may get a small out break once every 4-5 months or so, and from many of the stories I've read here on this forum, I feel really damn lucky! Apparently, there must be different strains of this virus that are more "active" and more frequent than others, But I quite smoking, I exercise regularly, I take Vitamin E (1000 IU), Garlic Pills, Lysine (5000 mg's a day for a week, then lay off a week) Zinc and B-complex Stress-tabs, A Centrum Multi-Vitamin, 2 Table-spoons of Noni Juice, Drink plenty of water and get pretty good rest, and this virus for me has not been a huge hindrance in my life at all. I do remember I had to cancel a really nice week-end with this hot chick from Florida once, but other than that, I can't complain, I urge many of you to PLEASE ween yourself off of that valtrex or acyclovir, because what's gonna happen is that it's gonna eventually lose it's effectiveness and then you're gonna really start to panick! REMAIN CALM. ICE is extremely effective for an OB too, and will cut the heal time by a couple of days if applied a couple times per day. For those of you who may get an hps eruption on your face, forehead, chin, etc? No problem... stay away from ispropyl alcohol, because that will dry your skin out eventually, it is somewhat effective, but dry skin could invite viral shedding of blisters already present, I hate to endorse a particular product but I've found that if you wash your face with a Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser, let sit for about 2 minutes or so, rinse thoroughly, but GENTLY, Then apply the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion with Alpha Hydroxy it will sting a little, but that's o.k., that Alpha Hydroxy is REALLY good for pimples/bumps/blisters, etc...Then if the bumps are red you can coat them with a Cocoa Butter Lotion, with Vitamin E or a Vaseline Deep Moisture Cream with Vitamin E and when you awake most of those bumps will be gone and your skin will actually feel really good and refreshed. Repeat this every day for a week, then, intermittently after that, it will work wonders for you! Finally, be really, really careful and cautious about all these companies that are getting richer and richer off of our suffering by advertising a so-called "cure". I've literally probably tried everything on the market from DMSO, Chloraphor on down. Save your money, if you get and keep your immune system "up", eat foods high in Lysine and Oxygen, this horrible virus wouldn't attack as much, it's not gonna happen over night, but it's the same concept as a fat person losing weight, it took your whole life damn near to get tha tway, so it's gonna take some time and hard work to lose all that fat, same concept with hps, you can NATURALLY fight this thing but it first start's with your attitude, Much luck, peace and blessings to every single one of you, sorry about the length. Answer: Thank you for the information! I am also a diabetic on top of haveing H. This is my 1st outbreak and after being on meds it seems to be easing up for me. The sores are open, but they do not hurt as much when I have to pee. The 1st few days I dreaded it when I had to go! Answer: i completely agree with RC. Main thing is to keep your immune system tops. I am really lucky, i never had any blisters or coldsores-but i have been diagnised with herpres for two years and for about 5 months had continous pain in urethra (even when not urinating), it stung like hell and the pain seemed to go away in the summer. This winter it came bak, but i am geting really good at reliefing it by staying fitt and taking care of my diet. I was on valtrex for all of last winter and apart from the first two weeks, it did NOT help AT ALL. Answer: i have had hps almost 2yrs now and nothing seems to work. i agree with what you said about the doctors getting rich off of people with this disease. my problem is finding a natural alternative to reduce the amount of outbreaks and relieve the irritation of the blisters. i have not been able to control this thing which has had a major affect on me emotionally. i try to remain calm but everymonth i worry because i know when another outbreak is about to occur. this is the most uncomfortable feeling i have ever experienced. i have began taking lysine and zinc, i will increase the dosage of the lysine. is there anything else i can do? Answer: I just got out of a 5 year relationship/engagement which is where I caught the virus. I was uneducated about HSV, and my ex said I wouldn't catch it because she would know when OB's would occur. What I've found out lately is women can't tell as easy as men..........I've had just few outbreaks during the whole period. Well I'm sure educating myself now. I just started with the Never An Outbreak Program, which involves comsuming Liquified Stabilized Oxygen, DMSO for outbreaks, eliminating all added sugars in foods, and most oils. And believe it or not, they recommend not cooking with olive oil, but with Palm Kernel Oil or...... Coconut oil as well as taking a a teaspoon or 2 of it a day! The first book was very high on using a .03 Hydrogen Peroxide NOT the standard .3 that's on the shelves, but the latest philosophy is diet, DMSO during outbreaks, and the daily regimen of Liquified Stabilized Oxygen. Their claim is that any virus, cannot live in a higher oxygen environment. The founder states that he is not a doctor, but a biological scientist for many years, " and a client". I've posted questions on their website and they have been answering. Mostly about food related program. It's only been 2 weeks. One part that concerns me after reading the Outbreak book, is that they say in a supplemental instruction sheet, that you should not do any anaerobic excercise for 5 months while on this program and that's how viruses live. They say be all means excercise, but never near point of breathlessness. They are adamant about this for the duration of 5 months, in which case they say you can be more confident about not beiing contagious, and hopefully, staying on the Oxygen, will keep OB's from happening. I tested positve for HSV 1 + 2, but could have got # 1 from girl in high school who had # 1 and had problems around her lips. I've never had # 1 OB, only # 2. I've gone on www.snopes.com and can't find anything yeh or nay on this program. I had just days before purchased Red Marine Algae and Lysine supplements. When I got this new kit in the mail, it stated NO other therapies be used in conjunction with this program. They had mentioned Lysine in the first edition book. The second book comes out in December. It sounds like you may have tried it in the past. Do you or anyone else have any thoughts on this? I've surfed around and can't find much for or against it. I do agree with you about the positive attitude. I think surfing the personals too much can get discouraging. It's better just to do that once in a while. I've never met any of the dozen or so women I have been with in my life ( I'm 52 next month ) that way. And there have been periods for me where it has been years between girlfriends. I have survived, although it was at times lonesome. Although it seems to work for many people and I've surfed myself. But financially I"m starting over, and now with this, and I've never been real good with just instantly scooping up women, and you see girls that get your heart beating, but then you tell yourself the odds aren't as good now. I think you have to work at saying whatever will happen, will happen. Not sdoetimes easy but very possible. In the meantime, I'm going try and keep up my own healthy regimen, as I always have tried to do over the years, despite some heavy partying in my younger days. Anyone is welcome to put their 2 cents in. Answer: i've heard of the program and book that you are talking about, i have never ordered it. i used to exercise alot but i recently moved to a new state where things are a little out of control right now. i have begun taking 5000mg of lysine a day. i was taking these vitamins called herpanacine, that i located online; no positive results. i don't want to resort to taking the prescribed medication because i know in the long run its not good for you. at this point i feel that is my only option, because these once a month outbreaks are irritating. my doctor did not inform me of the type of herpes i have, all i know is it is genital. from reading more i realize there are other types. i was pissed by the way the gyn handled the situation because i feel like i was left on my own to conquer this disease. the first time i was only prescribed 6 pills of valtrex which did absolutly nothing. i feel like i am running out of alternatives! i don't even allow myself to have a social life because i feel like i am a social misfit. i need some answers  Answer: Not personal, just private.
