Here are my symptoms... what do you diagnose?

Question:
Hello everyone. Just joined. Wish I could say it was nice to be here, but you know...

Ok, well let me just describe my symptoms and hopefully some of you guys can give me a heads up.

A few days after sexual intercourse with someone, I had an itch around my anal area. The itching was severe and pretty quickly, the area became red and little red bumps appeared. My lymph node on my groin swelled and it stung when I urinated. I had a headache and fever. The fever and uretha infection have now passed and the severity of the itching has subsided somewhat, though it still itches like hell when I haven't applied a local anaesthetic cream (which all but takes the itch away completely). The lymph node remains swollen.

I have found that using Germoline (local anaesthetic cream), exposing the area to a good amount of air, and having a couple of baths each day is helping considerably, however the area remains bumpy and raw. Cleaning the area after a BM can be extremely painful.

I am quite certain that I have Herpes - the symptoms seem to be consistent. In the last day or so (I've had this just over a week) I think I can tell that things have improved a fraction however my main concern is the rawness of the anal area and the inevitable itching if the area isn't plastered with local anasthetic cream. How long does this part of the outbreak occur? Do I need to see a doctor about this? Would you recommend any self-applied treatment?

Thanks so much for any help.

Answer:
Ever try to diagnose yourself and treat yourself. I speak from experience that applying the wrong thing to a herpes outbreak can make it much much much worse. I cannot stress much enough.

Go to the doc, get a proper diagnosis and their recommendation on treatment.

These boards are here to provide support and information only, not to diagnose.

Just a bunch of people who live it, hanging out to help those who are new to living it.

If you need the boards, come back and we'll answer your questions based on experience, but there's no way anyone can diagnos via the net.

Hang in there.
