Ocular herpes?! I need help on this one...

Question:
I am a 35+ male and was diagnosed with HSV-2 about 18 months ago and have come to terms with this nuisance of an "STI". To me, its like acne on your genitals - no big deal. I am currently not taking any medication for my condition. Although I have lived with this and have pretty much discounted its long-term affects on my lifestyle (apart from giving the virus to someone else), I have never thought about Ocular Herpes (herpes on the cornea of the eye) before until the absolute UNTHINKABLE happened...

Last week was the most stressful week that I have had this year - very, very bad. After about three days of burning through work and stress, I felt an outbreak coming on, and I was right. However, it was in a totally new area on my penis - right above the scrotum. I had a cluster of small, clear blisters and I wanted to pop them immediately (I never leave an outbreak alone) as I want to speed through the blister/scab stage as soon as possible. As I bent over to get a better look, going in to pop the first one - believe it or not - the blister popped right into my eye!!! I immediately jumped up and rinsed it out within 10 seconds. However, after calling an advice doctor at a local hospital and he said that it was more than likely a 100% chance that I could contract Ocular Herpes.

I would like a second opinion from this community. Can someone give me any advanced information as if HSV-2 in the eye membrane can cause this? What are the symptoms in the eye region and what should I expect??

Thanks for your help...

Answer:
If you think you have ocular herpes then you need to see an eye doctor to have this confirmed. You might also want to run this scenario by your eye doctor for further clarification.

Answer:
Thanks, but...I already talked to a doctor. I am here to get more advice, but not from a medical "professional". I am looking for someone who really understands HSV-2 and can help me understand if what happened to me will instigate ocular herpes.

Thanks!
