New guy here, need advice...
Question: I haven't got my test results back yet, but I'm almost positive that I have genital herpes (HSV-1 or HSV-2 I don't know). I've had symptoms for a week and a half around my groin, and now all of a sudden I am having symptoms around my neck and head as well (swollen lymph nodes). Oral sex was involved. Does this mean it is likely that I have Oral HSV-1 or HSV-2? What are the repercussions of having an oral strain of herpes? Will I have to "tell" every girl now what I have before I even kiss her? Thanks for the help. Answer: I haven't got my test results back yet, but I'm almost positive that I have genital herpes (HSV-1 or HSV-2 I don't know). Why would you put yourself through all this worry if you haven't even had any confirmation yet as to what you have? It's just a waste of time to sit her and contemplate things until you know for sure, wouldn't you agree? I've had symptoms for a week and a half around my groin, and now all of a sudden I am having symptoms around my neck and head as well (swollen lymph nodes). Oral sex was involved. Does this mean it is likely that I have Oral HSV-1 or HSV-2? First of all ~ herpes doesn't present itself all over the body. And secondly ~ even if you had herpes it's either going to be genital herpes, oral herpes, both, OR nothing at all. When do you get your test results back? Oh and oral herpes type-2 is pretty darn rare. What are the repercussions of having an oral strain of herpes? Oral herpes is basically cold sores and fever blisters. Obviously you don't want to kiss anybody when you are having an outbreak around your mouth AND if you are going to be sexual you would need to have a talk about herpes and stds all together. But here we go ~ jumping the gun. You don't even know that you have herpes. Will I have to "tell" every girl now what I have before I even kiss her? Thanks for the help. If you are going to be sexual and it turns out that you do have herpes then YES you need to talk about your herpes BEFORE you become sexual with your partners. Good luck, Angela  Answer: I put myself through this worry because I am almost positive that what I have is herpes - of which type I do not know. Right now I have the following symptoms: Painless lesions that developed around my genitals 1.5 weeks ago that do not itch. I found what I think is another small lesion near my anus. Half of the original lesions subsided in a week, but a newly formed batch appeared in similar places thereafter. I feel like I've been running a mild fever for the past week. Since yesterday my lymph nodes - both in my groin and in my neck - have become swollen. I am getting tested for all STDs regardless, but I am basically accepting the fact that I have at least genital herpes. But beyond all that, let me put forth a question that I hope you could help me answer: Let's say I end up having HSV-2 orally. Well, HSV-2 orally usually never has any recurrences and the statistics I have read back this up - one site even quotes a doctor that says recurrences with oral HSV-2 don't even exist. Does this mean that I have to tell girls about my oral HSV-2 before I kiss/make-out with them? Or, because the chance of an oral OB (and subsequent transmission) is so slim, is it okay to kiss a girl without telling them about Oral HSV-2? (I totally realize and understand that I have to talk with partners prior to sex with genital herpes, that I am totally clear about). Thanks for the help. I do appreciate your response, and don't mean to have an attitude or anything. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
