is it possible that this is herpes? i am terrified -pls help
Question: This is my story - anyone please read! In december i noticed a very small red cut - tiny as in it looked like i was pricked with maybe a tooth pick - on the surface of my skin very close to my anus - and it felt slightly crusty around the cut, but did not look crusty, only red. I wouldn't have thought anything of it but it had been there, no changes in its appearance, for about 5-6 weeks. So i made a gyno appt. just for my annual exam, not mentioning the "cut" just thinking that if it was something bad he would notice. He said everything was normal except for a mild yeast discharge - which i normally have - and i tried to forget about it. But after about 2-3 more weeks of it still being there i began to panick - i thought maybe it was a wart or something else because in the past i thought herpes had to be in clusters ect. Then after a total of about 8 weeks i checked myself and it felt to be gone. Then i thought i was coming down with a bacterial infection which i had in the past - feeling slightly swollen and red. I went back a different gyno and i requested std testing w/ cultures and blood for things like hiv, hepatitis - everything was normal - all negetives - But then i began reading online about how herpes symptoms can be similar to yeast infections and many times there is no outbreak, only the itchy burning tingling - which is what i get from yeast as well. This sent me into panick thinking back to the original cut. I asked my boyfriend of 3 1/2 years if there was anything i had to worry about - he said told me no, and i do believe that - and i have not cheated on him So i guess my question is - (the "cut" i noticed in december) back in july my friend and i switched the pants we were wearing - and after i put hers on she mentioned that she better first put underwear on before wearing mine. That grossed me out because all i had on was a thong. Then the "cut" i got about 5 months later was in a spot that my thong did not cover and the pants were only off her maybe a minute before i put them on - and i dont know for sure but thinking back on our conversations, she never directly told me, but i think she may have had herpes. is it even possible to spread it that way? with that time period in between - and that being the only cut which was basically painless? does this sound like herpes - my doctors say that they havent seen anything on me to make them think i have anything other than yeast - but he could have overlooked the original "cut" - Please help, anyone with any comment or advice i would so much appreciate it - thanks for reading - Brittany Answer: Brit- You tested negative for HSV? If yes, why are you worried? That cut sounds like a "fissure" or just irritation. Alot of us are "yeasty" that happens commonly as you ovulate. Talk to your doc about all of this - schedule an appt for a consult and bring a list of questions. You'll feel better to rest your mind. As for your friend, I suppose if she had an active outbreak, tight pants... it is possible - however I wouldn't go asking her if you tested neg. You could tell her your concerns - see if she mentions anything, but I honestly think you are OK. Answer: See the thing is my gyno tested me for everything but that - she said if at the time of the test there were no sores then there was no culture that could be done - i am actually going back today - i dont really talk to that friend much anymore, i cant really call her up out of the blue and bring this up - but hopefully today this doc will tell me i have a bad yeast infection and nothing more. thanks for the reply.. Answer: From what I have read in other sites, there is no documented case of getting herpes from toilet seats, towels, clothes, etc. However, just b/c your boyfriend doesn't show symptoms doesn't mean he isn't a carrier. You really have to get a blood test to be sure. Good luck today. I am personally waiting for my blood test now. The Dr may not want to let you get it, but if you insist you should be able to convince them. Make sure they test for IgM and IgG antibodies. Answer: Docs don't like blood tests because the aren't accurate - tell the doc - "I want to have the blood tests done to put my mind at ease - one way or the other" Good luck today hon.. Answer: so i went to the doctor today convinced i was having an outbreak - i talked with her first and she explained things to me - she even said a lot of the people coming in thinking they have it are negative, just having yeast or bacteria or something - and the people coming in for their annual dont think anything and she cultures a spot looking abnormal and its positive. She must have been down there 15 minutes checking every bit of everything - and i told her about the origanal cut. She said that cut did not sound like herpes, and she sees tons of it - just that it lasted so long wasnt a blister and the way it healed really didnt sound like it , and the fact that most people do get sick with there first outbreak and i did not - anyway she did the exam and said there were absolutly no signs of bumps or sores - no swollen glands - my cervix, uterus - everything felt and ( for the most part) looked very healthy. She did a culture and it showed yeast, which is what she thought already from the redness and irratation. She gave me an antifungal medicine and i swear already by 12 hrs later things are feeling better. I didnt get the blood test because the one she could do would show if i ever had a cold sore at all - and i figured if that cut wasnt an outbreak - and this wasnt an outbreak - and i dont remember ever having a cold sore - why do it. i have this general problem of convincing myself i am sick all of the time and i think thats the problem i need to fix. i always pick these diseases that would always be lifelong like hsv and hiv - and i think that i just need to start living and stop reading so many websites that play into my fears. so thats that for now - thank you all for being such caring people, finding this website saved me - and also made me realize that getting hsv sucks, but its not the horror i had previously thought. anyway, take care everyone, brittany Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
