3 weeks of pain...what to do?

Question:
I have posted several times here in the last 3 weeks, so sorry if this is repetative. This all started after getting a "hand job" (sorry) from a girl 2 months after last oral sex, 6 months after last sex. I have had extreme tenderness (fades in and out, going away for 20 min, several hours, or even a day) and a small red area on the very edge of the head of my penis the entire time (am circumsized). Urologist gave me lotrizone (corticosteroid can exacerbate herpes), which seemed to work at first, but then things retuned to same (but not worse). Went to derm yesterday for blood test, gave me Protopic cream (can also exacerbate herpes). Have applied 3 times, red area and pain remains. I will know in 6 days the results of IgG blood test. I guess I have a few questions: 1) Does this sound like any of your symptoms, isn't 3 weeks a long time? 2) Any advice for helping relieve pain? 3) Do you think I should call Dr and ask for Valtrex rx in the meantime and stop using the cream? I know you aren't Drs, but I could really use some advice, b/c my Dr's just haven't been helpful or knowledgable so far. Thank you so much.
Oh, also, does the initial outbreak always show up at the exact area of infection? (ie head vs shaft vs base)

Answer:
Mal - I will be shocked if that comes back positive - if you are in that much pain that you keep coming back for answers, I would call your doc and get different meds. Or - get a second opinion - 3 weeks is too long. Get yourself some helpful meds while you wait for thos results buddy.

Answer:
Well, last night the pain went away, but sure enough, today around lunch it came back. I bought some lidocane spray and called the Dr, but was too late. I guess I will ask for some Valtrex tomorrow... This really sucks. I just don't know what to do anymore, and my Drs are no help at all. They just say, "doesn't look like herpes". Now I know it doesn't have to, but they somehow don't.

Answer:
Well, results are in, and I am negative for both 1 and 2. Good right? No, not necessarily. Unfortunately, now I have read that getting tested 8 weeks after possible infection is not enough and I have to wait another 4-8 weeks and get tested again to make sure. Argh, this is soooooooo hard. I don't know what to feel right now. Happy b/c I'm negative so far? Afraid to get my hopes up and then get a positive later.
