Recently diagnosed with ocular herpes
Question: Hi, I've been struggling with the physical & emotional diagnosis of ocular herpes. 1st was diagnosed with allergies of the eye, then pinkeye, then a scratch on the eye, then the "dentrite" appeared & a correct diagnosis was made. Symptoms have been extreme pain, blurry vision, red eye, tearing, & horrible photophobia. To make matters worse, I was allergic to the eye drops for the treatment! Has anyone had experience with this? I'm frightened that I may lose my vision. Also heard that ocular herpes predisposes you to herpes encephalitis, although my doctors say no. Any encouragement and/or info would be greatly appreciated! Answer: hi , i'm so sorry to hear about ur diagnosis. I completely understand your concern about your vision. I'm legally blind myself but i do have enough vision in my left eye to get around on my own without a cane or anything. when i found out i had herpes i ran to the doctor immediately because i was having some itching and a little pain. but it turned out to be something totally different. i cant really tell you much about ur conditon except that make sure you stay on top of things with your treatment because if it isn't treated properly there is a chace that you can lose ur vision. but don't worry im sure you have good docotrs who will prevent that from happening.
