I went to the doctor the other day after treating myself for what I thought was a yeast infection. However, my pain on my left labia and itching got worse. She said she thought I had a reocurrence of herpes and tried to take a sample-I will find out in two days. I have been married and with my current husband for fourteen years-never cheated on him or vice versa. She gave me Valtrex 1000mg a day-however my itching is now at the top of my vagina and around my anus and I am still bruised and swollen on the left lip of the labia. I just don't understand what is wrong with me-how could this happen to me or what in the world is wrong with me? Why after 3 days of Valtrex are my symptons still there-do you think I have something else-poison, spider bite? Please give some opinions.

Have you made an appointment to go back to the doctor? You might want to try using baby wipes with chamomile for the itching.

Please if you never do anything else, NEVER diagnose yourself with a yeast infection. There are SO many other things it could be instead...

I have to call the doctor back tomorrow one to see how I am doing and two to see if the test results are in. Try to explain this to my husband-he keeps saying that I must have slept with someone either in the past or since we have been married for this to happen. I told him whoa wait just a minute-you could have gave this to me and an ex-girlfriend or such could have given it to you-but I just don't understand how I have not had anything in the past like this(they say the first time is the worst) and I honestly don't remember anything this bad before at least since I have been married and with him for 14 years. I think I was under more stress like 5-6 years ago versus the beginning in July(death in the family, late period) but in a matter of a couple of weeks-this all passed. I was under more stress paying bills, filing bankruptcy and being pregnant at the same time 506 yrs ago. I will keep you posted. I just still can not believe this is what is wrong with me. I guess we will soon see.

This may not help you much except to let you know you are not alone. I had been with my husband for 18 years. I was treated for severe yeast infections and tested. The test came back negative. Recently I had a severe yeast infection (first time in 5 years) and I went to a new dr. this time it was positive. I understand that some people can carry H for many years before it suddenly appears.
