Welcome to www.thanktoday.com !!!

Ever heard of herpes on the scalp? I'm so sad.

Question:
After nine years, I'm quite sure my husband contracted the virus from me.

This week it started with a lump behind his ear - like a lymph node - and then two sores nearby. He gets painful zits on the back of the neck sometimes, but this was way different. It took several days to actually surface - he had major shooting pains in the area and general illness all week. Matter of fact he was a BITCH to live with for the last couple of days.

Needless to say, I could not coax him to a dr. - he just wants to ride it out. I feel bad for him, because I know how bad he feels. Poor baby.

Anyhow - I cant even imagine what else this could be cept for herpes. Have you ever heard of someone having an outbreak on their head??

Answer:
Umm...while it is possible for the herpes virus to manifest itself anywhere on your body....this just is not a very likely place and COULD BE SOMETHING worse than herpes. He would be wise to get to a doctor NOW while the lesions are most active, if nothing else to at least eliminate whether or not it is/isn't herpes.

It could also be shingles as well. Did he ever have the chicken pox as a kid?

All in all, I wouldn't mess around with something like this....like Isaid, this is not a "normal" spot for herpes to turn up in . he shouldn't "ride it out". If it IS herpes, than so be it, and you all will know how to deal with it. If it is shingles, well that is something they can treat and doesn't usually have the same reoccurance rate that herpes does. (usually shows up in the ederly, but not unheard of in younger people as well.)

But yea, tell him not to wait around with this. Get to a doc, asap.
good luck, and I hope he feels better soon! :)

Answer:
Yer preachin to the choir - I KNOW he should go to the Dr.... He wont go. Stupid men.

Everything looks a whole lot better today and his lymph gland is shrinking. It's been a rough week for him. Thats for sure.

Thanks for the follow up.

Answer:
hahaha, my guy is the same way (about doctors AND dentist....he won't go until he REALLY has to!) it drives me mad. He has health insurance and all that jazz, but he just won't go until I nag him so much about it, he finally throws his hands up in the air and RUNS out the door to the doc! hahaha!

Maybe if you tell him it could be shingles or something, then he will go....maybe :?: :?:

I am glad he is feeling a little bit better. Poor guy.
