Question:
I know this sounds a little goofy, but it's in the AP, and in the New York Post, and in the international papers that Liza Minelli is being accused of failing to tell her ex husband about her "disgusting infection" and is being taken to court by him. Yes, it's official: she has herpes. Now everyone knows it.

We need to hear HER story, HER personal experience with herpes. This is the celebrity who could make a difference, just by telling her story on TV.

Anyone know how to reach her? Could we all contribute to taking an ad out to appeal to her somehow? Could someone find out where we could all write to her? Anyone good at that sort of thing, amongst us?

It's about time people stopped stigmatizing us, and made this a mainstream, non-taboo subject. Pamela Anderson did it for Hepatitis. Why not Liza for all of us?

As for the herpes thing, she has probably had it since her studio 54 days, when the jet set were all fucking like rabid animals. Anyone and everyone. There are a bevy of famous folks from that era who DO have herpes. But I ain't one to gossip.......ahem....... :roll:



Minnelli and Gest's Divorce Battle Turns Nastier


The nasty divorce battle between Liza Minnelli and David Gest has become even worse, with Minnelli accusing her estranged husband of trying to poison her and Gest charging that she hid the fact that she had a sexually transmitted disease. According to papers filed in a Manhattan, New York Supreme Court, Minnelli claims she was "living in fear" while she and the music producer were married, because she was scared he was "trying to poison her with drugs". Meanwhile, Gest claims the Oscar-winner hid her sexually transmitted disease, herpes simplex, from him until well after they were married. A source close to Gest tells the New York Post, "David was devastated when he found (this) out a year after they had been together and six months after they were married." In the court filing, Gest's lawyers demands to know when and how Minnelli got infected and plan to make her medical condition an issue in their long-running divorce case where each is accusing the other of being "cruel and inhuman". The estranged couple have been locked in a court clash since splitting in July 2003.

I hope you realize that people who don't "fuck like animals" also get herpes. It's not a punishment for immoral behavior. Some people catch it at the first sexual encounter, in a monogamous relationship. Some people are more sexually active, but wouldn't be called "animals."

And whether or not you like Liza or her odd husband, they are human beings, just like us, with plenty of publicity and access to the public.

I'm very disappointed with that response.
