Seen Doctor - Still confused
Question: I seen my doctor yesterday, actually his counterpart because my regular GP was out of the office and he said I should I been seen that same day by his counterpart, so I went in and seen him... I had blisters on the shaft of my penis and they scabbed over and became swollen, my lymph glands in the groin area became swollen. Never any pain. I haven't been sexually active for over two years and never had any symptoms of herpes before. The pictures I looked at online for herpes looked just like the blisters I had. When I seen the doctor yesterday it was already too late for him to take a swab of the blister because they were already scabbed over. His first conclusion he jumped to was an infection from possibly scratching my penis while dealing with a minor case of jock itch and he thought that is why the lymph glands were swollen. I told him about the pictures and I said the blisters I had looked just like the pictures of herpes I had seen. He prescribed me antibiotics for infection and threw in another medicine for herpes just in case based on what I told him the blisters looked like. I am thinking to myself oh what a deal just throw in the herpes medicine just in case''. I didn't get either of the medicines yet. The blisters were never sore and the only soreness came from the swollen lymph glands. It has been a week now since the blisters first showed up and the scabs are starting to go away, where the blisters were it is still swollen somewhat and the lymph gland swelling is going down. I am thinking about calling my regular doctor to ask him to do blood tests. Any thoughts? Thanks Answer: Do the blood tests. Just for your own peace of mind. Although the outbreak you describe almost sounds like a primary "first" outbreak, so it might not show up in your blood stream yet. But you say you haven't had sex in quite a while.....so I don't know how this can be. What about oral sex? Have you had that done to you recently? You can catch it that way too. From what you described, it does sound like herpes, but sometimes there ARE other things that turn up that look like herpes, but is not herpes at all. Go for the blood work. Ease your mind. I will cross my fingers that it is a severe case of jock itch or something! GOOD LUCK!!! :) Answer: No oral sex, not even a kiss. Thanks for your input. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
