Question: Well my bf gave me the gift that keeps on giving for Christmas! Lucky me eh? Um he has a cold sore and it resulted in me getting genital herpes. I have had them since saturday and they hurt so bad. I finally found a position to pee in that doesnt hurt but I am terrified to do a number 2 so I haven't passed a bowel movement since saturday which sucks. I got a prescription for Valtrex from the doctor so I have to take 4 pills a day for 10 days. I have read and been told that the first outbreak is always the worst. Is this true? because I honestly couldn't take another one of these. It is so painful. I would much rather give birth to a 20pound baby then to have these. Are there any helpful hints you guys could give me to ease the pain and just dealing with this? I have been laying down with an icepack between my legs and that helps for a bit. And how do you deal with this and your social life?... I have had to tell so many people that I have the flu so they will stop calling or stopping by. It sucks so much and I'm just so confused I just don't know what to do. Do I really have to change my diet? I know starchy foods aren't good, but I love pasta so much. I love to run and I do it every morning but the past few days it hurts to even walk so I feel like a gross slug right now. I get my test results back around new years to see if it even is herpes and what type it is. I know it is hepes though. I would assume it's type 1 since it came from a cold sore, but i hate this so much. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks! Answer: Don't really get any pain with mine, but I was advised to take a bath with salt in to ease the pain if that became a problem. It might sound gross but you could also wee in the bath if it really is that bad (not sure about a number 2 though!). Answer: I was just diagnosed about three weeks ago and my ob was pretty painful. When I urinated it hurt and as for a bowel movement, I would almost cry when it was time to go to the restroom. However, it has gotten better on its own (I am very, very, very glad). Mostly, I had very bad pain in my lower back, hips, and legs. That pain has gone away also. The only thing that I feel now is some slight irritation in the genital area from time to time. I feel the ob is going away and I am glad. I also feel that when I start really altering my diet, exercising more, and relieving stress, I will feel much better. I think it is more of a mental let down and it is affecting me physically. I suggest that you eat foods that help your bowels stay soft (oatmeal, apples/apple juice, raisins, etc.) When you use the restroom, it will still be uncomfortable, however, you won't have to strain and cause even more pain. Hopefully, it will start to go away, mine did. Take care! Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
