Devastating doctor's visit

Question:
Yesterday I went to the medical doctor because I was having body aches for a week. I saw a doctor who wasn't my regular doctor. He asked me about my symptoms. I explained that I have herpes and am in constant stages of OB"s and not responding to meds. He got aggrivated and said I had nerve expecting him to deal with something so involved during a 15 minute appointment.
I tried explaining that perhaps the aches/pains were connected. Again, he said I was expecting too much, and acting unreasonable by coming in with so many questions. He was appaulingly rude. I actually walked out. He then wadded up the paperwork in my face. I started crying hysterically and the whole staff ended up getting envolved. I reported the guy.
I have to say that I am having a horrible time getting medical treatment.
It's like the doctors don't want to deal with this. I've left many an appointment feeling blown off. I wish I knew some kind of Herpes specialist I could go to. This guy said I should have gone to my own doctor since she's been treating me all along. It was like I was bad for asking someone else. The problem is she doesn't have a clue. Looks like I'll have to keep going to doctors until someday I get lucky.
Isn't it a shame?

Answer:
wow... im sorry to hear that.. glad to hear you reported him on it tho.. no one should ever have to go thru that kinda crap.

what you might want to do is see if you can get a referral from your regular doc. that way there is no question exactly why you are going in... that should solve a lot of the rudeness & get you to someone that will be a tad more up on the whole issue.

Answer:
God Layla - what an a$$!! Glad you reported him...

I would go to a clinic, planned parenthood - or a womens specialist group - my doc (s) are a part of an all-women practice - completely different environment...

Next time that happens (God forbid) tell the bastard that it's too bad his insignificant life has made him so bitter... God complex - you know - he probably found out he has HSV 10 minutes before your visit!! Or, he just knew nothing about it and was embarassed -

Supportive environment - you have one here - now go find a doc that's mor like us - but smarter!!!

best wishes -
L

It is shocking how irresponsible doctors can be! After developing symptoms, I was lucky enough that I was diagnosed by my gynecologist and I found her to be very sympathetic and fairly knowledgable about HSV(not that anyone seems to know a whole lot) - I've always preferred talking to a woman about my feminine parts anyway.

But my boyfriend (who had no symptoms) went to get tested by a general practitioner who essentially told him that asymptomatic herpes doesn't exist so I probably cheated on him. I was so mad that he twisted the facts considering its all over the internet that many people don't even know they have it because they don't have outbreaks and yet they can still spread it. Its amazing that there are doctors out there who would spread misinformation.

Answer:
Hi. Thanks for the support everyone. I do appreciate it. Thought I'd give you a little update. Turns out I've got thyroid disease. That's why my herpes wasn't able to be treated with meds, I have an underlying autoimmune condition!
I'm thinking of suing that doctor. Here I have some serious illness and he's telling me off for coming in with too many symptoms. I guess my advice is to keep questioning until you find out what's going on with your body. Don't let doctors brush off your concerns!
