Boyfriend NOT given meds? I dont get it?
Question: I was diagnosed last week with H. This is my first outbreak. I have been given Anti Viral treatment to take for 5 days. My boyfriend has had outbreaks before and didnt know what it was no has never been diagnosed. He went to the clinic today and they have diagnosed it as H, but because this is not his primary outbreak they have not given him Acicilivor like they have given to me. Is this right?? Answer: ugh no. he has a virus, and has had outbreaks. they should have given him a rx. i would call/ go back if u can- and demand some medicine and they only gave u enough meds for 5 days? u know its a lifelong thing... ur going to need to have more then 5 days Answer: How many days do people usually take meds for? Because I am getting my meds from the UK NHS service, they only prescribe 'they' think is right. I can try and demand but I'm not sure how lucky I will be. It all depends on the doctor you get at the time. Do antivirals supress the outbreak? Why would they let my boyfriend walk out and just ride his outbreack out? Perhaps because we have a health service in debt and they dont wanna give us what we need. I'm angry about this. Answer: people usually take the meds- the rest of there lives. and a primary outbreak can last a month+ i would go to a diffrent clinic doctor, bring the boyfriend, and get the meds u deserve Answer: Waxed wrong, thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my posts. Being supported really is making a difference. I am going to speak to my general practitioner and see if I can get a repeat prescription for the times I have an OB. I just cant imagine taking Anti Virals for the rest of my life?? Is that what everyone else does? But can you still get OB's while you are the meds? Answer: yea, i usually switch between meds, and vitamins like rx3 times a week vit4- visa versa the next week.. pretty much, u want to supress the virus so u dont have outbreak, after outbreak after outbreak. and yes u can still get it> but the frequency, and general size of ur outbreak will be "suppressed" plus> the meds are supposed to help heal the sores faster then if u didnt take anything Answer: I went to see my doctor this week who said he would give me another 10 days worth of meds, but no more. He said to get more treatment I need to be having a OB. I told him that I knew other people who were on meds on a permanent basis, but he said unless I get 6 OB's per year then they wont consider giving me meds on a permanent basis. My boyf is going to see his doctor today so maybe his will say something different, although my boyf has had several OB's this year so maybe he will be more successful. It's very interesting to see the difference between the UK and teh US and how drugs are distributed. Because we have a national health service (which is free but we still pay for our drugs) they treat things differently. Plus our health service is in 13 billions £ of debt so we know we are NOT getting a proper level of service. I will keep you posted. Answer: wow, if i had to sit in the doctors office each time i had a outbreak i might kill someone. i would look into more doctors, private ones> not the clinic kind- idk which u are seeiing> but maybe the private docs, will be a little more lax> and u can remind them that this is a CONTAGIOUS life long thing> and that if u spread this to anyone> they can be held responsible for not giving you the proper amount of medicine. Answer: some people use meds, soem people don't! primary outbreaks are the worst and are almost always used if it is bad. i had to request valtrex and b/c i have outbreaks all the time i am on them forever now...
