Could this be true?
Question: I was just diagnosed with Herpes, i'm not sure if it is 1 or 2. But just yesterday my boyfriend got this little sore on his lip. He says it feels like a pimple, but i'm thinking herpes. Well probably a month before I got this outbreak we had unprotected sex, and well i don't usually get really wet down there so condoms are good at making things easier. My boyfriend just got some spit in his hand and put it on himself so everything would go smoother. Do you think that I could have gotten it this way? i'm just trying to think of ways now because he tested negative but he is the only person i have ever been with, the only person i have ever kissed etc. possibly? Answer: Hi smh1, ordinarily I would say that it's almost impossible to accurately point the finger and say "it was that person", especially given the incubation period of herpes simplex (usually a couple of weeks, has been known to be up to a few years). Also, there usually has to be skin-to-skin contact with friction while the symptoms are present for the virus to be transferred. However, since he's the only person you've ever been with then it does seem likely that he's the culprit. On the one hand, you don't mention noticing any symptoms on him at the time but then the virus can be transmitted without any symptoms being evident (I think less than a 3% chance). Also, if you think the spot on his lip may be a herpetic blister then it should be filled with a clear fluid. A pimple is usually filled with white blood cells or pus. Of course, that's just a rule of thumb and it's not meant to replace the advice of a qualified urologist. The only way to be absolutely sure if your boyfriend has it is to get a swab test done while the symptoms are present. It's a tricky one and I don't envy you but I wish you luck in resolving the issue. CJ Answer: Well the only reason i can point fingers is because i know it was him. Ive never been involved with anyone else. Not even on a kissing level. Not even in past years. But i do thank you for the help =]. i was just thinking maybe it was a possibility but then again it probably could have just happened from just oral sex. who knows. i'm over the fact i got it, now it's on to the rest of my wonderful life. [i'm trying to keep positive with the whole situation.] Answer: if hes got it on his lip u can def get it from recieving oral. usually the "shedding" occurs, right before/during/and right after a outbreak. so its possible that when u did it- he shed- u got it- then he got his coldsore... but if hes tested neg- and its just a pimple. its not him. and u need to think about any other times, anyone has ever come in contact with your genitals. (also very possible that when you were a child someone changing your diaper or w.e, had a cold sore> touched it> and then touched you......everything is a possibility) Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
