I got a cold sore for the first time about 7 days ago. I just found out that a cold sore is Herpes(type 1).:confused: I'm shoked because I've seen and known plenty of people that has had cold sores. You always think that herpes(any type) is this nasty thing that only careless, overly sexual people get. But... I now know it's not true. It's so common!
Anyway my question is....

How do you get rid of your cold sores as fast as possible???????

I have not left the house in the last 7 days because I have been too embarrased! I did go to the doctor but wore this hat and covered up my face. It's healing but is there anything that could speed up the process? I'm ready to get back to my life.:(

You can't ever get rid of cold sores permanantly but you can use a variety of OTC ointments to help speed up the healing process. All I use is Carmex and it works very well.

here's something else you will have "just learned" after reading my post

Coldsores are not just HSV type 1.......they can be BOTH HSV 1 or HSV2

and also, it works the same for genital herpes (it can be genital HSV1 or genital HSV 2) they can both be caused by either strain of the virus (1 or 2) and can occur and be transmitted to either place as well.

so now you are even more educated on the subject....its something a lot of people dont realize either.
