Recurring colds sores that isn't Herpes?

Question:
I'm dating a girl that twice in two months now has had an outbreak of cold sores on her mouth in the exact same spot (both upper and lower lips). She said she had it tested by her doctor and was told it wasn't herpes. She also said she takes Lysine for it. She's evidently been dealing with this since before we met.

I've been dealing with GH for 25 years now. The first time I saw what she had the first thought that came to mind was that she had herpes. I've been totally upfront with her about my condition since we first started seeing each other 3 months ago. When she had another outbreak one month after the previous one, I asked her about it. Because it seemed to me that cold sore re-appearing in the same place again was a pretty strong indication of herpes.

Can reoccuring cold sores that show in the exact same place be anything but herpes?

Answer:
Hmm, OK, I did some digging around on this site and I think I answered my own question. Sounds like cold sores on the lips are by definition HS-1, so that pretty much answers that. Lot of good info on this site.

Answer:
her test could have been wrong i had to take 4 blood test before i even got close to a postitive.

shes def got herpes if she has cold sores. id tell that girl the truth, and get her to a doctor WHILE she is having one

Answer:
yep, sound like she is in denial.......and Ive only ever heard of lysine being prescribed or taken by people with different variations of the herpes viruses, though it does have other purposes to benefit from.......but since she clearly said she takes the lysine for her "problem" well there you have it.......her problem is coldsores caused by the herpes virus. Have her take a type specific blood test because it most likely is hsv1, but there is still a chance it is type 2 orally....which happens also. Id recommend it either way because it sounds like she is in severe denial and maybe she has never even had a type specific blood test and this will help her accept and understand her condition to actually see the results ya know? chances are she definitely knows its herpes already and just doesnt admit it to people (or herself maybe) but maybe she doesnt know which type for sure and to get it out in the open might help her. good luck

remember to be careful, as Im sure having hsv2 yourself you are already, but keep in mind there is still a small risk of developing both kinds down below, although it is not as common but it is still possible to develop a secondary infection down below (type 1 if receive oral from her) even if you already have type 2 down there.......and of course you could get oral herpes from just kissing her so take precautions and vice versa for her sake as well and hope everything works out for you guys :)

Answer:
also , she may have been diagnosed years ago, and the moron doctor told her it was just "cold sores" and not herpes. It never ever EVER ceases to amaze me at how little many doctors know about herpes!

And yes, she may be in denial too. I got coldsores as a kid, never thought of them as herpes until I was an older teen and learned a thing or two on my own. So......
