Hpv And Hsv2

Question:
Hello Everybody. I Just Had My Yearly Papsmear And Am Very Upset. I Have Hpv Now. My Pap Smear Showed Up Abnormal Pre Cancerous Cells. I Have To Go Have A Coloscopy Done Today And Then A Biopsy. Can Anybody Relate Because I Feel Like Its The End Of The World Again. I Have To Watch For Outbreaks, Now Cancer And Maybe Warts.

Answer:
Kayla not all hpv causes cancer but some do. The new hpv vaccine only protects against certain strains of hpv.

I wish I could offer you something to make life seem better. I can't completely relate to the diagnosis but I can relate to feeling like the world is exploding around you. I can say that no one bad day can last forever.

I'm glad you're seeing a dr and following through and I wish all the best for you.

please let us know how the tests go.

Answer:
thanks....no one was responding to my post....ok well i just went in for my yearly pap and the doctor said alright we will send u a letter in about a week to let you know....and then i did get a letter...the letter simply said, your pap test came back abnormal....meaning you have some abnormal cells...so they wanted me to come in for a coloscopy.....its just like a pap but more intense...anyways......the doc said i have PRECANCER CELLS......and that they are most likely caused from HPV....he said there are 100 different strains of this std and that i probably have the one that causes precancer cells....in my cervix...sooo he basically said the point to the coloscopy is to test for the precancer and if it comes out precancer then i have to have those cells killed....and its really easy to kill them....sooo yeah......just kinda freaked out.....cause i thought well what if one day those cells cant be killed and i get cancer....but he said they will always be able to be killed and that i wont ever die from cancer in my uterus or cervix...soo i am more calm just really upset.....my vagina has caused me soo much dang problems....and im only 19:(

Answer:
well that is good news when it turns out to be something they can take care of for you.

I'm sorry you have to go through this - it isn't fair. I remember times when life was similar for me and now that I'm past it all I can look back and see how much I've grown, how much better able to cope with things I am and that my compassion for others has magnified. Be strong and optimistic for a bright future. ;-)

I wish you the best - be sure to let us know how you are doing.

hi there. i recently joined this website, and have already posted on my experience with hsv2, but hadn't brought up about my hpv. when i first found out, i freaked. the colposcopy wasn't too bad, though. i thought it was going to be horrible, but it wasn't much worse than a pap. actually, paps are more painful for me than the colposcopy was. anyway, it's been over two years since it was discovered, and i quit smoking pretty soon after finding out, and on my last pap i came back clear. anyway, i just thought that might be encouraging for you to hear.

Answer:
Hi Kayla1987,

I understand how you must be feeling at this time. I was diagnosed with HSV2 in November 2006 and it truly felt like the world was ending. However, in such a short time, I have started to feel much better and deal with the diagnosis easier.

I will also say that I was diagnosed with HPV in 1996 and I experienced some of the same procedures and feelings that you are experiencing right now. I too received a colposcopy and the cells showed as being precancerous. I got them removed and it has been 11 years and I have been receiving normal pap smears since then. I just recently got a pap smear in February 2007 and it was normal. So, I said all of that to say this, even though you may be feeling very alone and bad right now, it will get better and you will be okay.

If you need someone to talk to about this, please do not hesitate to send me a private message. I am here to help you. :)

I had precancerous cells and was diagnosed a few years ago (before getting herpes) and had a colposcopy. Went back in a few months and still had the cells. Anyhow, I started eating healthy, quit smoking (a big factor involved if you smoke), and started exercising...all recommendations from my nurse practitioner....and got retested 6 months later and had a normal pap and have been having normal paps pretty much since then so it really does help changing your habits...especally if you smoke. good luck...its actually quite common to have abnormal cells at one time or another...also can be due to hormonal changes and variations. My mom had cervical cancer when she was 21, had partial removal of cervix and repeat paps ever since her surgery. She had been fine ever since until 2 years ago when she went in and they said she had precancerous cells growing again and she had a LOOP procedure (electric coiling used to peel off layers of the cervix like an onion) very painful to remove the outer cells that were precancerous) and since then has been ok) so its good to catch it early. My sister also has precancerous cells....same thing....repeat paps, colposcopy, and then the painful LOOP procedure and now has had her first "normal" pap in a while. She just turned 20....plus most of my friends I know have had abnormal cells in the past at some point so it is actually quite common and no need for alarm as long as you follow the right early steps. Good luck and know you are not alone :)

Answer:
See...THIS is why such a website rocks for us all. Not only for dealing with herpes, but all sorts of other issues related, even indirectly.

Kayla, I do hope you are feeling better, and as the nice ladies here have shown, you are DEFINITELY not alone!

Continue taking care of yourself, you will be fine!
