Itching at end of OB not at beginning?

Question:
As I mentioned in a previous thread, I've had my first initial outbreak for two weeks now and believe I am at the tail end. I didn't experience any itching at the end of my ob, but am now. The lesions are gone, the lower body pain is almost gone, but now I am itching. I thought the itching happened at the beginning and am now worried that I may be in for another ob right at the end of my initial one. Has anyone experienced this before where they itch at the end instead of the beginning or should I begin another round of Valtrex, which I just finished Saturday in anticipation of a new outbreak? Thanks! I feel more comfortable coming here to ask questions knowing that I will get answers from people who have been there rather than a doctor who might not have a clue about all this.

Answer:
itching, i would expect it to happen at the end, since the skin has been stressed out, and the crusties dried it out. try some a&d ointment, or vaseline, just rub it on it should moisturize the skin enough to stop it from itching.

Answer:
tough to say could be the end or a new outbreak beginning....or it means the virus is present on the skin, but the meds. are trying hard to keep it at bay so it doesnt evolve into a full second outbreak at the tail end of the first. When there is itching, its always a good idea to proceed as if it is contagious and wait till it subsides for a few days. I have what you describe but my itching comes at any time when the virus is active on my skin, even when not visible. It has followed the end of a series of symptoms and been the beginning of more on more than one occasion so just be cautious and act as if it is contagious until its gone for sure. hope it stops soon.
