i noticed blisters about 3 days ago, yesterday i had them cultured so i'm waiting for results this is the last thing i needed i just got done going through surgery for precancerous cells. i have no clue how to talk to the guy i've been seeing about this.... the blisters showed up about 2 weeks after the first time we were together i don't know if maybe i had already had it and had no signs of it and the stress from the precancerous cells just made me break out or if i got it from him i'm waiting on results before i do say anything to him i'm just scared, worried and depressed. not really sure what to do any input would be great. is there anything to do for the pain my doctor gave me hydrocodone but it doesn't seem to help much.

also tell him, i know it sounds really hard to do but it literaly take like 3 seconds for the words, i found out i have herpes to come from your mouth. the faster you do it, the quicker it is. and once you HAVE said it, its not that bad. its like pulling off a bandaid get it over with and you dont have to suffer

i plan on telling him but i don't think this is an issue that should be discussed over the phone so i have to wait till i have recovered a little bit from my surgery before i can drive out and see him. i guess i'm really afraid of the way he is going to react but even more afraid for him to say that he has had it in the past and didn't tell me.... that would be the worst thing for me to hear right now.

if he is any type of guy worth you energy he will go and get tested via herpes specific blood test and see if he has it. Also, Id recommend you also get a blood test for it, and not just rely on a culture test, as they can often be wrong if the virus had retreated back to the nerves by the time of the test, then it will show up negative, when in fact you could have it. Also, when it comes to the blood tests, if at first you get a negative result, wait 12 weeks and get retested by blood again and if you have it, by then the antibodies will have usually shown up by then....same goes for the guy you're seeing. Thats the only way to know for sure. Good luck

well i'm pretty sure that i have herpes my doctor wasn't for sure if it was herpes or if it was an infection due to the recent surgeries i've had for precancerous cells on the cervix. could the virus have retreated if my ob gets worse with each day. i am also taking valtrex but have only been taking it two days now so i haven't noticed any difference.

if the outbreak is still in its active stage then a culture will be positive in that case. Sometimes the culture is taken when there is the bump or visible symptom on the skin, but the virus is no longer present enough or strong enough to show a positive culture sample. Based on what you described id say a culture will be reliable, but if it happens to be negative then id really recommend the blood test and retesting in 12 weeks via blood if that is negative as well to be sure. The virus is very tricky:)

so the results are in and i tested positive for hsv-2. i was pretty sure i had it but man it really hits you once the doctor confirms it. i'm trying to get my normal schedule back to keep busy so i don't have to think about it so much as it just makes me feel depressed. i go in on tuesday for another check up since i've been running a fever the doctor wants to make sure i don't have any infections and just wants to sit down and talk with me about it.

Don't use hydrocortosone cream!!!! It actually makes it worse. Its almost like it feeds the virus. Use vasoline. It works wonders. Plus it stops the chaffing.

I just was diagnosed as well and two days ago had to tell the guy who I have been dating. Just stay calm and explain the facts. It will go better than you expect.
