Quite Strange

Question:
Well, I had unprotected sex on about April 5th. Immediately after (3 days), I began feeling an itching and burning sensation, I then experienced discharge, and noticed a faint pink rash on my outer labia. I thought it might be a yeast infection so I treated myself with Monistat. It really has helped with the itching.

The red rash became like a few small, flat red bumps. They still intensely itch every once in a while, now a month later. But once I put on the Monistat cream, it soothes the irritation.

I guess at this point, I am too chicken to have it checked out, but know I should. I guess I like to believe it isn't herpes because it doesn't have the "classic look" of this disease.

I have to ask though, is it common for a supposed herpes outbreak to last longer than a month? AND can something like Monistat or another Yeast Infection cream soothe herpes? (theoretically, if it has for me?)

Answer:
yes, its common for the outbreak to last longer then a month.
and its common to have a yeast infection, during the outbreak, quite common- that most outbreaks are confused with just being a yeast infection.

and there really is no "classic look" for herpes, theres a very big variety of what "outbreaks" look like, and what you described sounds like one of them.

get tested, its not that bad, its like pulling a bandaid, do it quick and it hurts less. especially get tested ASAP if you still have the bumps.

Answer:
also get a herpes type specific blood test, as what you describe sounds similar to my symptoms, which could not be cultured because they were not raised and had no fluid or anything in them. the blood test is a good way to be sure and if you can also get a culture in addition that is even better (sometimes even if positive the culture will be negative depending if the virus has retreated back down the nerves and if it is in later healing stages) so getting both would be ideal, but if not possible for the culture def. get the blood test done. Its better to know than to be in denial if you actually do have it ya know? as crappy as it is to know, its much better to be informed and to start to understand the virus.

Answer:
Just gotta ask.

When I had my major ob and thought I had a yeast infection the cream that came with my Monistat kit burned like hell when I put it on the area with the hsv blisters. It did not make it feel better.

Has anyone else had this reaction to it?
