Do I have Type-2 herpes in my mouth?

Question:
Hi! I've been searching on-line for a few months but I can NOT seem to find information about this!

About 3 months ago I had one-time oral-to-genital sex with a girl who afterwards told me she had type-2 gebital herpes (Nice. Thanks for the warning! THAT lie sure ended it). I got sick for 5 weeks with shakes and high fever and malaise and couldn't sleep for very long and other such strange symptoms like deep aches in the top of my neck like INSIDE my spine (no other way to describe it). About 2 weeks into this fever my mouth errupted with little tiny blisters on my lips and a few on my gums and under my tongue. They really hurt and took about 3 more weeks for them to go away, during which it was VERY painful to eat or even talk.
Everything was fine then except one morning about a month later I had two cups of coffee and by nighttime the blisters were back inside my lip, in force.
I did some research into foods to aviod for herpes at that point.
I am having another outbreak now as well, three weeks later from the last one: (I had peanut butter and some cocoa over the holidays). I've also been drinking supposedly "caffine-free" tea (right...not anymore anyway, eh?) to help ease flu symtoms I had from catching the flu but now the mouth sores are back.

I have NO health insurance so no one in this frikking STATE will admit me or see me in a doctors office, even if I pay cash (nice...Why do people BECOME doctors ANYWAY? These people should have been LAWERS for heaven's sake!)...and the local clinic won't deal with it. So there is NO medical help for me except maybe places like THIS! (thank you all!!!)

Usually the symptoms start with sleeplessness for about a week or two and a weird feeling in my nervous system, almost like having drunk caffine, sometimes nervousness with weird sweats (probably psychological terror? lol!) and tension in the back of my neck, then numbness in my lip where the blisters later appear.

The blisters start out like TINY little light-colored almost white bumps under the skin on like my lower lip (usually so far) but within a day or three progress to a few various located sores with inflamation around them. Of course it's hard to talk or eat.

Does it sound like I have herpes? I have been assuming so, and conduct myself under the assumption I have TYPE-2 oral herpes (better safe than sorry for un-infected people's safety).

I read you can get type-2 oral but so far no real info about it, except that it's possible. I never get cold sores (not once in my life yet anyway) and I have nothing else on my body herpes-like.

Some questions I have are like transfer potential; is it ever safe; can I kiss a parter at ANY point; will it ever be safe to use my mouth in sex (with a future wife?) or am I now handicaped by this virus indefinitely if I DON'T want to ever give it to someone else; can I get WORSE herpes by contacting a type-2 infected person with my mouth; can I give it to someone ELSE in THEIR mouth or on other parts..

???????

Resources, links, direction, input, advice all GREATLY appreciated, for my sanity and health as well as maybe someday someone else's!!!!

Thank you Soooo much!!!!!

Jason

Answer:
ill tell you as much as i know..isnt much but its something. i know there is a possibility of spreading when you kiss.. if you have the sores in your mouth. if you are passed the outbreaks.. its ok to kiss. as long as the out breaks arent there. as for going down.. its safer to go to the grocery store and you some of that yummy ceran wrap (cant spell).. make sure you double up too just in case THAT rips. lol... im no doctor but i can tell you not to drink cafeine..eat chocolate.. nuts... or lots of red meat. that just irritates it and the outbreaks last longer. i was told that for genital herpes you can put some red wine on there.. so go ahead and just get drank. the best way !! lol no not really. hope you get more info... good luck Jason..

Sorry about what happened :-((
I personally know a person (a female) who contracted HV 1 from asymptomatic shedding from the mouth to the genitalia. She was violently sick with genital herpes for 3 weeks. The guy did not have any cold sores on the lips at that time. So, go figure :?:
I would suggest to find a STD clinic near you. The one I started going to a month ago (that is when I got my herpes present) is really great. Not only the people there know a lot about herpes, but they can do a culture and give you medicine (valtrex) for almost free. I don't have an insurance either. I planned on staying healthy. 8)
Good luck.
PS As to future problems, the shedding greatly reduces after the first year. But I suppose you will never be a 100% safe. If it is herpes. You have to find out that first...

Answer:
ok i went back to the doctor today for my first follow up since being diagnosed teo weeks ago. ok...i found out this...
*both types of hereps are connected u can have both. having one is not nec. better than having the toher because they are the same virus. according to my doctor. so just because u only have sypmtoms in a certian part of your body doesn't mean u can't get it in the other spot.
* as far as having sex. if you don't have an outbreak u can. genital is only contracted throught he skin touching...i.e. the blisters of even the rash after the blisters. wait to have sex untill your skin is perfect looking no red or pink markings no tiching or tingling.
* as far as oral sex goes. becaresull as long as there are no outbreaks in your mouth or on their genitals u are "safe" but still use caution! plastic wrap..good idea. my doctor actually suggested that. she said it would be safe. care about your self and others...even if it seems dorky. rather be safe that sorry...ya know.
* the only way to contract the virus is when u are having an outbreak. otherwise it lies dormant. so kissing is ok. unless u have a sore. when u are brokenout don't share drinks..ect. take care of yourself...i hoipe this was helpful.....good luck!
the sun will come up tomm. i know this virus is ugly and i hate having it. :( i am still coming to grips with it and dealing with it, and i still cry about it. but look on the positive. u won't die from it. you dont' have HIV. be thankful. i know i am. u don't ahve cancer. and maybe once u get past your initial outbreak and get your immune system stonger you may only have a few outbreaks a year or none at all. it's not the end of the world even though it seems that way sometimes. i hope you are all doing well. good luck.

I wasn't aware that the h-virus could cause severe illnesses other than the extreme pain and discomfort of the ob. I know that it weakens the immune and that it takes a lot of the bodies energy to fight the disease which can cause depression as well but I didn't know it could make you sick in other ways that both Jason & Rini described. I guess I was much too young to remember those ob. I have no recollection of my primary outbreak. I was only a baby. Got my virus at birth

Answer:
How long after the encounter with the girl did the original person who wrote this message experience their symptoms?

Some of those symptoms sound pretty severe for oral herpes. Sounds like another illness to me.

Answer:
I have done a tone of reading on herpes and everything I have read says that if you get Type 2 in the mouth (or converesely, Type 1 in the gentials) the symptoms are far less severe and less frequent than if the type hit the "correct" place. You might want to get a blood test done; Herpeselect, Pockit or Western Blot are the types that will (fairly accurately) tell you if you have Type 2. I just can't say "where" it is.

I too think I am a victim of Type II to oral. I got very very sick with flu-like symptoms that, over a weeks time, did not go away. I was in so much pain, I finally went to the hospital. The initially thought I might have meningitis (can you say scary?). They kept me there for about 10 hours under observation. I did not have any heprs-like symptoms (sores and the such). I had a 107 degree fever, sweats, body aches, severe neck pain, a horrible headache... I was a mess. A week later, I developed painful clear-colored blisters in my mouth. I still did not know what was wrong with me. I saw a doctor again and he was puzzled. I never got a straight answer.
Fast-forward 4 years. My current girlfriend of over a year gets typical herpes symptoms on her genitals. She goes to a doctor and comes back positive for herpes. I had contracted it 4 years ago and had never had an outbreak, nor had I infected anyone else. Since it is a relatively new case, we are still putting the clues together as to who I could have contracted it from.
I guess I'm lucky I don't have frequent outbreaks and the recent one I had was very mild. I just hope my girlfriend has the same stroke of good luck.
