Welcome to www.thanktoday.com !!!

Ok i know its another OMG help me... but i am beyond words....

Question:
I have always has protected sex. I was raped when i was 17 but i knew the guy and knew he didnt have any std's. I had sex with one of my friends earlier this year and we used a condom of course. I have always tried to shave down there fast, but hey i admit big time i was foolish with lil water and a razor... i would always end up with severe red bumps. the next day it itched like crazy, but i knew that it was cause the hair was growing back.
The red bumps went away a few days later after i stoped scratching. Lately though he has been on a kick of asking me,"When was the last time u got checked for std's?" i have always used condoms.. and now he has me so freaked out i cant even sleep. I have always checked myself out and never saw any bumps, rashes etc. i do have the occasional chaif(rash) but it only comes when my pants rub too much on my legs. I also noticed that i had a purplish hard bump near my lip. It didnt hurt or anything. it was big but 3 days later it went away.. no puss, fluid, broken skin or pain. I learned from a friend it was a ingrown hair(which relieved me). What is tiny bit worrying me now is i have what looks like 2 small connected purplish bumps on one of my lips. Doesnt hurt or anything.. but i do see some hairs around it but i cant really tell if the hair has poked thru in the affected area. I am wondering if its more ingrown hairs? herpes(oh gawd plz no), or something else? I am trying my best to schedule a appt at a free clinic, only cause my mom is highly embarrassing. She wants to to into the gyno with me. I am 26 yrs old and thats a tiny bit embarrassing and there is somethings left not to be heard by her ears. PLZ i need your advice. i think my friend(sson to be ex when i find out the results) has me imagning that i do have something and i am stressing out enough i am making stuff appear. Please put my stressed out self to rest if u can...

Thank you all so much in advance

P.S. when my ex bf used to shave me, i never had ingrown hairs(but i guess cause he could see better and took his time).

I hope you find out for sure. It crazy how HSV works and people are so miseducated about it and that is why it keeps spreading like crazy. I hope you get a type specific blood test and keep getting tested every month or so in the future to always keep an eye on yourself because millions of people have no idea it could even be a possibility that they are carrying the virus....you dont have to be slutty to get this, you dont have to have or see anything visible ever to have this, you dont have to have anything that resembles the stereotypical image of blisters/coldsores (that most people seem to only think are symptoms of herpes until they are educated of all the ways it presents) to have herpes, and you dont need to know of any past partners who had anything suspicious to have herpes. And using a condom DOES not guarantee you will not get herpes......areas outside where the condom covers can be easily infected while using condoms. It just doesnt work so easily when it comes to this crap. I dont want to scare you but my outbreaks occur in my pubic hair region above the vagina (common to shave....used to shave here) and it has always looked like razor burn in the area and it turns out that is my form of herpes outbreaks....no blisters, no sores, nothing typically associated with herpes.....just looks like redness, rash/razor burn in the hair area and it sucks wicked bad to get outbeaks like this in that area. I hope you dont have it really bad. If you do have it there are people out there who understand and a lot of them have found their way to this site and it definitely helps to feel like your not alone..

if you dont have it, hope this has been a lesson of how easy it is to get herpes and that you never have to have anything typical or anything visible at all to have the virus.Hopefully this info helps you in the future if you dont have the virus afterall. Good luck to you

Answer:
You can go to the obgyn without mom. Just don't tell her when you have your appointment or tell her you had to cancel or something if she's pushy. It's cool that she wants to be there for you but it's also an invasion of your privacy.

This could be a shaving incident but it could also be hsv. Just because you think someone is clean does not mean that they actually are. Many people believe that the standard testing includes everything but on careful examination often excludes tests for hsv.

I would go see my dr and tell them my concerns. Ask for herpes specific blood testing to be completed. If they can swab one of those bumps it could provide an answer.

Lastly shaving can cause irritation. It is important to always use pristine clean implements as it's an area that can be easily infected and ingrown hairs can become a big problem. Usually they don't become big purple lumps and that would have me concerned. Please consider having a dr look at this.

Your bf (?) requesting you to get tested might be his way of hinting that there's a reason to need to be tested.

Answer:
well i dont mean that the purplish bumps are very big. the one time i did get one, i had a ingrown hair and i accidently shaved over it and it "pissed" off the bump and it swole up. Within a hour or 2, the bump was not swollen and it started healing. I do have some weird hairs that if i look at them up close, its actually 2 hairs coming out of one pore. And the 2 bumps i saw, went away the next day. The rash i saw and my friend did was only there right after i rough shaved and my skin was probably razor burned badly. But the next day it was always gone. Do you think it still sounds like hsv? Also, i have always had sensitive skin down there which makes it hard for me to shave... And as for the guy i told you all about who keeps pestering me? He is a 47 yr old germ a phob who freaks out if people sneeze around him. Also 1 more quick question for this post.... is it very normal for us girls to not wanna go to a male gyno? i kinda feel weird that i am letting some dude i aint never going to know a whole lot in between my legs and he will be probing around inside me?(yes i know it for my health, god bless them cause i dont wanna get sick) And is it ok if you brought a person in the room with you(i.e boyfriend, etc.) i heard they have to have a female nurse in the room if a male doc is present...

Sorry for rambling on.... and Again ty so much for replying to me... its making me feel better that people out there care :)

Answer:
I don't know about other states but in California they must have someone in the room with you. If you have concerns or are uncomfortable with any part of the exam you should speak up. If you have questions be sure to ask them while you are there. Annual exams are recommended and can make you aware of health problems that you can't see and prevent problems from becoming chronic or life threatening such as hpv.

In my personal experience female obgyn's have been worse than the males I have seen. I've actually had the same obgyn now for 5 or more years and he's a big dork but he doesn't hurt me and is willing to listen to my concerns and try to answer my questions. The women I have seen have been outright brutal.

It's up to you if you want to get tested or not it's your body and your reponsibility what you do about it. If you should have hsv and you pass it to someone else that will be on you and you alone. If you get tested and it is negative at least you will have the answer to your question.

Answer:
ok umm i admit since i have been stressing out a ton,, is it possible that i am in fact irritating my skin( everytime i go to the bathroom i check myself out over and over)? i hate the fact that this free clinic might take a month to get into... but if thats whats got to wait that long for i will do it. Deep down inside i feel that i am 99 % sure i dont have anything.. but my friend has made me stress out... which is terrible to has as a nature. Umm if the bumps go away the next day, is that still a possibility of hpv? (i have a ton of questions and i am trying to narrow them down, very sorry)
