Is burning a sensation of HSV 1?

Question:
Hi I posted yesterday and was conerned that I have contracted HSV-1 I was curious is a burning sensation a part of symptoms? I am not sure if it is or if it is due to the hydrogen peroxide that I put on yesterday, I put a lot on because I was concerned that I had contracted something, I then proceeded to wash my face with hot water and soap. I also spoke with the indiviual who I was with to let them know that I was having these symptoms and she said that she did not have a cold sore, or was ever diagnosed with an STD. So I am confused is it still possible to recieve HSV-1? Or am I worrying myeslf over nothing? I am going to get checked out a.s.a.p. but in the meantime what are my chances of it being HSV-1

Please if anyone can give me some advice I would greatly apprecitate it,

Thanks,

M

Hey surfer. Im kinda in the same boat as you are. I cannot say for sure since i have never had herpes, oral or genital. But i was having the same burning sensation as you desribe but genitally. I have in the past two weeks gone to see two different docs and both have told me that a burning sensation alone is not typical for herpes. In my case they say the stress and fear alone could be manifesting into something physical, but who knows, not sure if i buy that. At anyrate i have read that you could do a IGm blood test to show a recent exposure, then do a IGg after 3 months. IGm blood tests are not considered accurate after 20 or so days after the possible exposure so you cant wait too long. I just got done taking both of them. My IGg wont be accurate cause its not near three months, but will at least show me if i was exposed at a earlier time.

PS i was hoping somone who has the virus could have helped you more (and me). But i figured you might at least want to know what the docs told me and about those tests.
Good luck Surfer. Let me know what happens

PS i was hoping somone who has the virus could have helped you more (and me). I wish someone had too - I'm sorry I couldn't but there is only so much time in the day - and we're not getting paid... but you are right about one thing: why are there so many people reading these posts and not helping each other by posting is beyond me - but you need to remember that no one "works" here - so a response may not be immediate - and there is no guarantee you'll get one.

Frankly sometimes it frustrates me to read that comment you wrote Jim - it makes me want to jump ship - there is SO much info here, that you can get answers yourself by reading, searching for keywords to find a similar situation - and when someone has a similar experience - they will write. Like you did Jim - so you see the system works...

So I guess I'll tell you my thoughts - for what it's worth - "burning" can be absolutely anything. If there is no "rash", no blisters, no definate exposure - how can we assume it is HSV? It may be, granted - but what makes you think that it is without a partner telling you you have been exposed? "concerned you got something" why?

I only know what you have told me - which is you have a burning sensation - ok, where? how long? how severe? is there anything on the skin? what else - cuz that says to me you have irritated skin from God knows what.

I didn't respond yesterday because I don't get burning sensations - so I can't relate and I didn't think that response would help any.

My OPINION is that you do not have HSV, and the more you convince yourself that it is, the longer this irritation will stick around. Don't worry about what you THINK it is - find out what the doctor thinks it is - which brings me to my second reason for not responding - you both are going or have been to the doc - and that would have been my advice.

You are doing the right things. Good luck.

Answer:
Not to take this post off topic but really quickly wanted to say to Lasmom that I certanly did not mean to offend you or anyone else in anyway. The job that you and others do at this site is remarkable and is a godsend for people with concerns and question's. I only wrote that last comment because i could not offer any true help or advice to his question with any real point of reference. I have never had HSV so i cant tell a person if a "burning sensation" alone is common in some, or a few, or none. I was waiting for a reply to his post probably as much as he was. It means much more to hear it from people who have experianced true obs before. If my tests return positive, well then we will know for sure that it is a symptom. So again, please know that i was not meaning too offend anybody or anyone. Im just a scared person that was praying for some anwsers.
Sorry again.........Godbless
Jim

Answer:
Jim - no need to apologise to me - I should to you - I'm just frustrated is all - that docs aren't more help and all of the "guests", etc. can't take a minute to add their 2 cents you know...

I feel for you - the not knowing and fear of it all is the worst part - I'm sorry I can't help clear it up for you guys - just without "classic" symptoms - its hard to know -

Please let us know your results - never know - you guys may help the next one with the same problem.
