I haven't had experience with pain from ob's (knock wood)....But I have had experience with helping family and friends advocate for themselves with the medical community.
I think it would be a good idea to make an appointment either with your doctor, or a pain management clinic in the VA hospital. Without apology ask for help in managing your pain. Doctors tend to brush people off when they hint at pain. So, unless you let them know that your pain is real and you need help, either long or short term, They won't likely help you with this. You have the right to be comfortable. They have the obligation to help you with this.
