My girlfriend found out she has herpes, not sure if its 1 or 2.. but the doctor said it looks like 1. We think we got it because I was just getting over a mild cold sore, and she had a cut down there (but that might not matter?).. I still need to get tested, but I've never had an outbreak on my penis before.. I've had two cold sores a year ago, but used to have a lot of canker sores when I was younger (related?)

She is currently on a medicine to help stop her ob, but needs something for pain.

is it likely that she got it from my lips?

yes, it is very likely she may have gotten it from your lips...........

also,when you say she "she did have a cut down there"
do you mean you think that the cut enabled her to get herpes from your cold sore? because more likely her "cut" down below was her "outbreak" and it is very possible she's had this for a while and never knew ( possibly from your oral herpes that you have had for at least 2 years maybe your whole life....tough to say, but its all very likely. Both get tested via herpes specific blood testing to find out for sure.........most likely you have type 1 for your oral herpes but wait and get tested in case you have both types and also find out her blood results to see which type. If it turns up she has genital type 1 its a very high likelihood she got it from your oral herpes.

I never knew before i was diagnosed with genital herpes(from my husbands coldsore)that coldsores were herpes, or that it can so easily be transmitted to the genital area.

I have never heard that 1 or 2 look any different at all, you really need to be tested either by a culture swap or blood test to identify which type it is,i am sure that it cant be identified by sight.

All i took for the pain was paracetamol, my first OB was very painfull and lasted a while, i have just got over my 2nd and in comparison, was mild.

You really need to get tested,read up on as much info as possible, be strong, and support one another.

Sorry i dont know what a canker sore is, is it what we in the UK call ulcers?

for pain she can start with simple otc's like aspirin, ibuprofen, tylenol and if those don't work you can use rx's of vicodin. she can also combine ibuprofen and tylenol if needed. she needs to make sure that she drinks lots of water with pain meds.

uk girl what is paracetamol? A canker sore is a sore that is in your mouth that is not herpes. they come up if you accidentally bite your cheek or sometimes if you eat to many hard candies. they are red with a grey or white center and are usually small and will heal by themselves.

Paracetamol are pain relieving tablets,they are a household name over here.
They are taken to relieve most aches and pains.

They are milder on the lining of your stomach lining than Asprin but can be
taken as well as Ibruprofen.


It sounds like canker sores are what we call mouth ulcers,red with a white /grey centre and very very sore.
