red and slightly burning scrotum-still herpes?
Question: I've been HSV+ for over a year now, and I have not had sex since being diagnosed. A few days ago, I started to feel what I think are prodrome symptoms (tingling, itching) where I usually breakout (the shaft of my penis), so yesterday I got the three day treatment of Valtrex. Today though, those feelings have stopped, no blisters, and instead I have a fairly red scrotum that burns a little bit. This has happened once before when I thought I was going to breakout, but the redness and irritation was as far as it went. Is this just another manifestation of the virus, just a mild reoccurance? Or might it be something else? It seems that now, since I've got herpes, I'm worried about everything else, even though I haven't been sexually active since being with the person who gave me the virus. Answer: it might be the outbreak it self, everyone has diffrent outbreaks. Answer: i got that weird tingling, itchy stuff too, kinda all over my body. I think its a side effect of the valtrex perhaps...im gonna go off it for a few days and see what happens, the doc recomended i do so. Post if your symptoms get any worse, cuz I think were kinda in the same boat. lata Answer: Everything looks fine now... or at least everything is going the way it should. No more redness of the scrotum, but the beginnings of an episode where it should be/usually is. Must be one of those things where people get warning signs in places where they never breakout. I once heard about people's legs or feet hurting or itching before breaking out in the groin. Strange disease this is. Its also strange that two weeks after joining this forum I get my first reccurance in months ...its almost like being reinfected for the first time... Maybe that wasn't so funny, but for some reason, since I've joined this site, I'm beginning to feel a lot better about this thing. Thanks Answer: lintrus - it sounds like you cut it off at the pass before it became a full blown ob. Most people report that over time they usually have less severe or less frequent ob's. It's good that you were paying attention to your symptoms and could be proactive. PShazzy - prodome symptoms of an impending ob often are accompanied by the tingling you are experiencing. Other symptoms are itchiness, redness, burning sensations, stinging or pinching, small to large blisters/cuts/ulcers/lesions, headache, neckache, backache, muscle soreness, fever, dry skin, pimples or bumps. this is not to say that what you are experiencing is not an allergic reaction to the valtrex but this virus manifests in many disturbing symptoms. Have you checked out this link? Answer: thanks caliope. read the page..very helpful. im talkin with the doc tommoro about it to get his opinion. Ha Regaurdless tho, this support group has been placed on a pedestal right up there with any guy who talks to me in a white coat... thanks again take it ez Answer: I had joch itch once when I was a teenager. it is exactly as you are describing except after the tingling itchy redness, the skin got really dry and started to flake. Just a though, Might help someone. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
