Scabs, question on herpes diagnosis, help!

Question:
I saw a doctor from an STD clinic after what I thought was my outbreak. She looked at my sores, and said they aren't herpes. There are bumps, it looks swollen and it is red. It is characterized by a general red rash breaking out all over the genital area. Although the bumps are not fluid filled, they look sort of like small pimples if you look really close. I insisted on getting a culture test done but she assured me they were not herpes, probably some sort of allergic rash.

My question is this, does everyone who have an outbreak have scabs afterwards? Does anyone get herpes outbreaks without any healing scabs?
I don't get any scabs on my "recurring infection" in my genital area. I know I get scabs for the cold sores on my mouth.
Thanks.

Answer:
My outbreak looked like a mosquito bite. It healed without ever scabbing.

It bothers me that the doctor you saw at an STD clinic refused to do the culture you requested. I don't get that?

Answer:
nope. everyone is very diffrent from the general google def of a herpes outbreak.
my ob's do not scab, they just fade away.

even though they should have been given the test, it just shows how some doctors take full advantage of people.

Answer:
I'm adding to the list of individuals who don't get scabs.

In 10 years - I've now had 3 ob's with blisters or sores and they've all been different.

One had an ulcer, one had 3-5 small painful blisters almost as small as the head of a pin and characterized by a tiny bit of fluid on the surface. This last one had 1 bump resembling a pimple without the head and none of them ever got a scab of any kind. The last two were accompanied by a general redness over the majority of the genital area, swelling and itchiness.

You are describing something very similar to mine.

If you are paying for a dr's visit you should be able to request testing to get to the bottom of the problem instead of prolonging your discomfort and having to make a return appointment in the future.

Answer:
Thanks for the prompt responses. <sigh>
Well the Dr. I went to was free, paid for by the county that I live in.
I suppose you guys suggest I go see another Doctor?

Answer:
yup new doctor, or just go back and DEMAND that test, and ask why they refuse to give you one.

Answer:
I hope it hasn't been very long. There is a very fine window of oportunity when the virus is active on the surface of the skin.

Yes see a dr and insist on a test even if you have to fib and say your girlfriend or ex-girlfriend has the same symptoms. this might help.

Answer:
The dr. was pretty adamant, she assured me that doing the test was a waste of time. There was no way I was going to win.
