My doc told me that first outbreak are usually NOT painful, but it's the next reoccurance that is.. I thought it was the other way around???

Primary genital HSV (no Ab to either HSV-1 or HSV-2 at time of infection)--may be asymptomatic; if symptomatic, tends to be more severe than recurrent.
