Me HSV2, partner flu symptoms after giving oral sex
Question: I'm female and my male partner performed oral sex on me two weeks ago, I was not having an outbreak but understand there is always the risk I may have been shedding. It was the first time we had done this without using a dam. A week later he came down with flu like symptoms - stuffed up nose, aching all over and absolutely no energy. Now, another week later, he has a cough, sore throat, swollen glands in his throat and still feels as though he has been run over by a bus. He says this is the sickest he has felt in years. He has no sores, tingling or rash at all. No genital symptoms at all either. Are these symptoms common in someone who has contracted HSV2 orally or is it possible he just has the flu bug going around? Answer: ive been hearing about people getting pretty sick recently, ive also been feeling pretty crappy for the past week. but again the flu like symptoms that come w/ herpes is pretty bad ass imo. but if it is herpes, it should have gone away pretty quickly with the onset of a outbreak. i would go to the doc, get checked out. then go back for a test eventually. Answer: well since he has a stuffy nose and other sinus/cough type problems that makes it sound more like the "real" flu or another similar type virus to me. having just gotten over my herpes-flu-like outbreak... it felt terrible to be sure, but it was like having the flu, but with no typical head full of snot and congested chest symptoms. Both the flu and the flu-like primary herpes can take a while to go away, so the duration in this case doesn't help, but still, cause of all the sinus/chest problems, my guess would be it's not herpes related. Since he has no sores, I guess the only way to be 100% sure is for him to get a blood test months down the road... and even then, this still might be the regular flu (cause what if he gets it at some point but is lucky enough to never be bothered by symptoms).
