Long time for first outbreak??

Question:
Is it common to not have your first outbreak of sores/blisters until 1.75 years after the initial infection?

From all the reading I've done it seems that the majority of people notice sores/blisters 2-14 days after initial infection. 1.75 years seems like an awfully long time .....

Thanks for any help you give me!

Answer:
you have had visible signs/symptoms of an ob for a straight 1.75 years? YIKES, have you seen a doctor? That seems very long to me, even though I am new to this virus. Have you read the posts here? Are you on antivirals? Do you take the prescribed vitamins and minerals???? God bless you, I hope you can get this under control soon.

Answer:
Oh gosh, no! I think you misunderstood my question .....

There have been NO outbreaks in 1.75 years since possible infection. I was wondering if it's normal for no sores/blisters to appear in that long of a time (meaning the person likely does not have herpes)? Don't sores/blisters appear sooner after being infected?

I look forward to your reply - I hope I made my question more clear this time!

Thanks!

Answer:
a "classic outbreak (ob)" after initial infection normally will manifest within 2-26 days after exposure. a "classic ob" would include any combination of the following: blisters/sores/ulcers/lesions accompanied by itching, redness, flu symptoms, body aches, head aches, fever, burning sensation etc.

however, there are people who never experience a "classic ob" but do experience herpes symptoms without the blisters/sores/ulcers/lesions.

there are also people who never experience any symptoms that they notice or recognize to be herpes and this is considered to be a latent or dormant infection.

Your infection can fit into any of the above categories or it can change after many years and you can stop having ob's altogether or start having ob's.

Your body is ruled by your immune system. If your immune system is strong you will probably not experience ob's if your immune system is compromised you could experience frequent ob's.

No it is not unusual to have an ob 1.75 years after infection. I think it is actually more common to have this experience as many of the population are infected and do not know they are because they do not experience ob's or symptoms.

Thanks very much for your time and input. I live in Canada and we do not use blood tests here for herpes testing. The only way Dr's can test you is if you have actual sores that they can inspect/swab. If I have NO symptoms at all (no pain, no sores, no general malaise, no tingling etc), how will I ever know if I have genital herpes??

That's the hardest part I guess - All I can do is spend the rest of my life wondering ....

Answer:
Or . . .

You can come to the States on vacation and maybe get tested?
