Shooting pain in low back, H+ ??

Question:
Hello Ladies and Gents,

I won't post my story here....you can find it in the newly diagnosed section.

Instead I will get right to the point.... I have reason to believe I am H+, by virtue of my spouse being recently diagnosed with it. Where it came from/how we dont know...maybe it was me. We've made a pact to work through it and thats exactly what we will do. Hence "NeverGiveUp" .. :)

Here is my current situation...

YES
-shooting pains
(stinging sensation on bottom of spine, began approx 4 days ago)

NO (not yet anyway...)
-numbness
-achiness
-other sensations felt in the genitals, back, buttocks, or thighs.
- Redness, Blisters
- Lesions

This is a bit of a puzzle to me as I am a sciatica patient...and have had back problems for almost 2 years now. I see a Chiropractor twice a week for it. Therefore this was nothing new to me and I have become accustomed to the occasional pain. However more often than not this pain is in the mid-low back ...specifically L3-L4-L5. The pain i am experiencing now seems to be at the base of my spine, but in general all over the lower back.

My question is fairly straight forward....with most back pain, pivoting/adjusting/stretching either increases or decreases the pain. This is exactly how i feel now. I have been able to decrease the pain over the last 4 days by stepping up my existing regimen of stretching/exercising.

IS the "shooting pain" that is experienced with H+ supposed to be stagnant...or is it because its a nerve based virii that it will behave the same way when i arch/pivot my back?

Should I see my doctor anyway....if this is predrome then I would like to get a head start on some antivirals...

Answer:
I experienced severe sciatic pain for many years without a physical explanation for its onset.

I saw drs who were happy to send me to physical therapy and to prescribe pain meds that in the end did nothing to relieve the pain and discomfort. Over time it lessened periodically but would return.

I accepted that I would just have to live with it.

I was diagnosed with hsv in January of this year and began taking antiviral medications and to research this virus and how it can affect our bodies. If you have genital herpes the virus will reside in the lumbrosacral ganglia and can aggrevate the sciatic nerve.

In April I had a bout of sciatic pain at the same time I was undergoing extreme stress in my job. I started to experience prodomal symptoms at the same time and upped my antiviral medications and the ob symptoms and the sciatic pain stopped within 2 days.

I believe my sciatic pain is directly related to the herpes virus and this is the origin of the back pain I have experienced. It truly is the only explanation I have found for my sciatica in 10 years.

I have a hairline fracture of my L5 vertebrae ..as well as the above mentioned herniated discs/pinched nerves. I am positive that in my case, the sciatica is related to my back being misaligned.

I would strongly suggest that you go get an x-ray...find out if its actually the HSV or your back itself causing the sciatica.
