Could I have gotten herpes?

Question:
Um Im pretty paranoid at the minute. I was out last night and was with a guy he went down on me for about 10 seconds (if even that) before I stopped him. He has a coldsore which is almost healed. Im really really worried that I could be at risk? Is it very high risk? Thank You

Answer:
Okay I read some threads and it seems its going to be a waiting game to see if sympthoms show up, if I was infected how long before it would show up if I go to get tested?

Answer:
2-20 days before symptoms...

1-6 months (sometimes more) before antibodies would show up in a blood test.

good luck and hope you dodged a bullet...

Answer:
Okay thank you. Im gonna read up on the sympthoms. So even if after 20 days nothing shows up I could still be carrying?

Answer:
Also Im paranoid taking a bath in case I spread it to other parts of my body if I have it... is this possible as Ive seen from pictures it can be present on peoples torsos etc

Answer:
And also I get cold sores so wouldnt I test positive for the antibodies anyway?

Answer:
yeah, if you get coldsores, you are going to get hsv1+ anyway. a blood test is useless for you. only way to know for sure is if you actually get symptoms genitally.

however, because you are hsv1+, you are somewhat more resistant to a 2nd infection site due to the fact that you already make hsv1 antibodies. Read the link on this site about hsv1 vs hsv2, and it says that ghsv1 rarely occurs in people who already have hsv1 orally, altho by directly coming in contact with a cold sore you are probably pushing the limit! Hopefully the guy's sore was healed enough to not be so contagious...

Answer:
Thank You!! but unless I get symptoms I wont know but I could still have it?

Answer:
Okay I read the article it was very helpful thank You... I just cant handle the thought of getting it as Im already a possible carrier of hpv and I just cant face being a carrier of something else, only so much one can take. Thanks fir the info
