Question, no typical...

Question:
Hey, I am sorry to be bothering you guys with this, but I don't really know where else to go.

I haven't had sex with anyone for several months. I just have been focusing on more positive things in life than that right now... Like work, etc. However I noted a couple bumps in my pubic region recently, spaced apart by a bit and about the size of an average pimple I'd say. Maybe a bit smaller? They are raised above the skin, and are spread out over an area that spans over the entire region... I even had one or two to manifest in the area towards base of the shaft. I also have one bump that is the size of like a nickle or so? It's pretty raised itself...

None of them itch or give me any discomfort really... Just kind of odd to have had these pop up... But I've been working outside and sweating a lot and think maybe that has something to do with this. It has been going on for at least a month in some locations. And then this larger one I found yesterday. First off there is no cluster, no symptoms other than the bumps (what size am I looking for?)

Answer:
No two people have the same symptoms or experience. In fact no two ob's are exactly the same either.

I recommend that you make an appointment and see a dr and have them evaluate what you have going on. What you are describing could be any number of things and some of them can become worse by not getting treatment.

You'll feel a lot better once you get a professional opinion. Do make sure that you ask for a full round of tests for std's including hiv and hsv since you'll be there anyways.

my best to you,

Answer:
Well, what size are herpes outbreaks typically? The actual bumps? Are they generally raised above the skin? If so, are they noticeably raised? How far? Etc.

Answer:
its completly different for every person. Some people get blisters. This can vary from one to several and can disappear in a day to a week depending on the person immune system. Other people describe their outbreaks as "cuts". Some people dont break out at all but can experience physical discomfort such as back or leg pain. The only way to find out if you have it is to go to a doctor and get tested for type 2 genital herpes. Even if you described in detail what they looked like we wouldnt know if it was or not because its different for all of the members on this forum.

Answer:
I understand that... However my nurse practitioner stated that with the bumps being the size they are they would be HIGHLY a-typical for herpes. She also said the fact I've had these bumps for over a month now without not even one of them trying to scab over makes it EXTREMELY unlikely. I have the same bumps that I have the first day, and they have no changed in appearance. They cause no discomfort, no pain, no itching... They are non-symmetrical and are raised from the normal level of the skin a bit.

She said that it is likely a bacterial infection from the type of work I do. I can't go to a doctor because I am in intense training right now. If they were to find that I have herpes they may not allow me to complete training because I have to be able to perform at an optimal level at any given time. Now you see why I'm here? I can't even leave the grounds for 6 more weeks. They let one of the applicants go because of stomach ulcers that may cause him not to physically perform on an optimal level. I can't afford to lose my job, so that is why I'm here.

The nurse practitoner I spoke to said that they would have most definitely started scabbing over by now. She also said since I showed no symptoms of the disease except for bumps that she was very doubtful.

I'm here because I know you know the answers. She said the "bumps" from herpes were usually very small, but formed in clusters. She said one the size of a nickle would be almost unheard of.

Maybe I worry too much?

Answer:
It sounds like it could be genital warts. But no one here can tell you for sure. Go see an STD doctor and get some peace of mind.

Answer:
Thanks for the information...

So would you tend to agree that 1 month with the same bumps with no change in them certainly decreases the chance of herpes? She said as was stated here that once the bumps appear they don't often stay visible for more than a couple of weeks. I'm not really knowledgeable about this stuff, so I was checking in to see if this is pretty true?

Answer:
no, my bumps have NEVER ever reached a scab stage and I have had this for 2 years exactly. Herpes manifests in a million ways and 50% of all people with it will never get anything even close to resembling a blister or scabbing over like one. Most medical people have no clue about how herpes actually works and how it can and does present itself so please dont go by what this one practitioner is telling you, because it is false and should not offer you any relief because you need to be tested for everything and get herpes type specific blood testing to know for sure and even then it might take months to get a positive result in the blood, although you could still have it. I dont mean to seem discompassionate or negative about what you have been told I just cant stand when people go by wrong information, or false things that give them hope. It could very well be herpes and it might not be but until you get tested via blood you will not know. It can take weeks to months for antibodies to show up so if negative at first get retested in a month or 2 again. Herpes used to be thought of as a very text book cut and dry sort of disease that caused blistering lesions that scabbed and healed over a few days but that is just not the case whatsoever...........it can manifest like that but often does not. I just want to make it clear that no matter what any doctor or medical person tells you, until you are tested their word means nothing when it comes to herpes. Its not that they want to give you false information, its that they are often miseducated or have learned out dated information regarding herpes and so they go by what they honestly believe is true and by doing so they misdiagnose, or give false information to people and the virus spreads rapidly as a result. Get tested...its the only way you are truly going to know, as tempting as it is to listen to what sounds most appeasing and helps you stay in denial of the possibility, its better to know in the end for your sake as well as other potential partners in the future.

Answer:
I see... So your telling me that it is possible that these bumps can go for a month with not changing in appearance and without any other symptoms?

I was under the impression that they would heal within (at least) a month's time. Or at least show some sort of sign that they are going to disappear? The same exact bumps are in the same place...

I'm sorry if I am seeming a bit stubborn, I am just trying to get informed.

I am going to post some pics to see what you guys think?
