Question:
The Dr got my labs back yesterday and said that I had type 1 genitally and I probably got it from oral sex. So I guess it was just bad luck that my BF of 4 years happened to be contagious with something that he didn't even know he had. He doesn't ever remember having a coldsore but he said his brother gets them. I'm thinking whoever kissed his brother when they were kids probably kissed him too! I feel a little better at least knowing where I got it from and the timeline fits too....

Is it true that having type 1 down below isn't as bad? I read that it causes fewer outbreaks....any personal experience with this?

Well, altho it sucks to have herpes, glad to hear you finally have a diagnosis back so you don't have to wonder anymore, and at least you are probably at rest about the cheating part. Genital HSV1 seems to be much more common now:(

Being told you have a STD really makes you want to freak. I got tested for *everything* when the doctor told me she would bet her life it was H; I was sure that my partner was a lying stinking cheater who was playing me for a fool.

*Most* people have fewer OBs with type 1 (some posts indicate going years w/o an OB), altho there are some people on the forums who have still had chronic OBs. Hopefully some others can post here for you...
