Extended time for anti-bodies to show?
Question: I was wondering if the time for anti-bodies to show could take longer than 12-16 weeks and if they are tied to an outbreak? The last time i had sex with my ex was in november but in july i started showing symptoms. or what i thought were symptoms (could be stress and anxiety) I went to the doctor a week after the perceived symptoms and had a full std screening (including herpes) and everything came back negative. The doctor said that i should come back in another 12 weeks to make sure because he said the virus could have been domant in my body and the anti-bodies would not be detectable. I have read that people can go years without any symptoms but does that mean that the virus wouldnt be detectable until the symptoms appear? Answer: took 8 months for me to get any antibody results.
