A person with herpes opinion is needed
Question: Alright so hears my story. I have had some kind of small rash on my penis for like 8 months. It originally started looking like dry skin with peeling skin. It never hurt to pee, hurt to touch, or had any kind of discharge. Basically it looked like I tripped and skinned my dick a little and it was trying to heal and I wasnt helping it. So finally I've had enough I go to the doc thinking im gunna get some kind of cream or something to make it better. He tells me to cross my fingers I have herpes because its either herpes, hpv, or penial cancer. I'm in shock. Thing is.. I've read about all the above and I dont think herpes outbreaks last 8 months without any kind of discomfort. For what I have read outbreaks generally dont last more than afew weeks and seem like they are very uncomfortable to say the least. I dont have any of these symptoms other than the cosmetic issue of irritated looking skin. I'm 19 and I told my doctor that I havent been a saint about protected sex so I cant tell if he's trying to scare me or what. I'm just finding it hard to believe I could have herpes without any of the symptoms. So what do you guys think? Its been 4 days and Im still waiting on my lab results needless to say I'm a little bit nervous. Answer: I also wanted to add. In the past 8 months I have been healthy as a horse in all other areas of my body. Answer: The time span between the test and the results is about the longest few days you'll ever live through. It really seems to creep by, I know. Meanwhile, your mind plays all sorts of havoc with you, and the stress just keeps building. I sympathize. The symptoms you describe don't really sound like herpes, at least, not your standard ob. I certainly hope it's not cancerous, though. Did the dr take a sample and send it to the lab? I've never seen HPV, so I can't say anything about that. I know this is nerve-wracking for you, but the results will be back soon, and then you'll know. Worrying about what they are won't change the outcome, so try to relax if you can. I do hope you'll let us know how things turn out for you. Good luck. Answer: I'm shocked that your dr would throw out the "C" word that quickly. There are a number of skin conditions that could have a rash albeit I'm surprised you'd let it go for 8 months. That had to be uncomfortable. Did your dr do a swab test or just blood work? If they suspect "C" I would expect them to do a core biopsy before committing to a diagnosis. IMO it does not sound like herpes according to your description but maybe you were not giving all of the details. Did you check out this link? It lists similar conditions. It never hurts to get a second opinion from another dr. Answer: It might very well be herpes. I too have had a rash that never left my skin, exactly like what you described for almost 2 years. Not until a few months into just having the rash, exactly like you described, did I get more symptoms, such as cut like feelings around the anus, but couldnt see anything visible. I have searched this site high and low and a million other sites on the internet trying to find anyone with something just like you described lasting for so long. I went to the doctors a week into my" rash" and they said it didnt look like herpes but to be sure took a blood test just in case and it came back positive for HSV2 and I was shocked. But that was 2 years ago and nothing has made the rash go away. I have come to the conclusion that I have herpes and something else weird going on. The herpes seems to be affecting around the anus and it comes and goes and feels like little cuts but isnt there all the time. The rash, however in the other area is always there. it sometimes flares up more or looks almost like it isnt even there but it is always there on the skin and has been for almost 2 years. The doctors have no clue, been to a ton of them.....at first they just wanted to say it was herpes everywhere but when it never went away they began to wonder. I am scheduled to see a specialist and another dermatologist recommended by my doctor. Please feel free to private message me. I have been dying to find one other person on the face of the earth with something lasting 8 months or longer. Whatever it is, sounds like the same thing I have. Maybe its a weird insanse strain of the herpes virus that never retreats back to the nerves. At first (the first week or 2 of having it) it itched but then for months and months and months it never had any pain, no itch, just there on the skin and wont leave. Answer: yeah I dunno, I'm not hip on the lingo but the doc did the q-tip in my penis thing and also scraped some of the skin with a razor and then swabbed it. I got my q-tip results today, apparently I dont have the clap or ghonorea (sp?) I dunno I got a wierd vibe from the doc. I was in there about 10 min he looked at my junk for about 10 seconds before telling me it was herpes and then he gave me absolutely no information on any of the 3 diagnoses he suggested. As for the reply from the person who feels he and I might have the same thing, the thing is I let mine go so long because it didnt itch, burn, sting or anything, it felt just the same as the rest of my penis except the skin was a bit more rough I dunno. I guess I feel like if the doc was so sure I had herpes maybe he would offer like a brochure or something I mean telling someone they have herpes isnt like telling someone they have an ear infection. I also might add I havent seen any herpes related pics that look like what I have, my moms a nurse and she said it sounds more like exema (sp?) than anything else, I'm praying the doc just gave me the worst case scenarios and that all my tests come back negative. I guess I could use a prayer from everyone I really wish I could start with a clean slate. The reality of the possibility of having herpes is really heavy. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
