Does this sound like herpes??
Question: I know I need to get tested, and I will...but Does this sound like herpes.... Also... I know what is said about the virus, but I swear I got it from a dirty sheet, or at least the person showed no symptoms at all, and it was very minimal touching. Basically, I have two 'things' that I believe may be herpes. The first one is below my belly button by about two inches. It looks nearly identical to a pimple but now it is below the skin and still slightly visable. However, it is very hard to the touch and has been there about a month. About two weeks ago I popped it and clear fluid came out. The second one is on my 'buttocks' and looks different than the other one. Is never had puss come out but does appear to be scabbing over. It has also been there about a month and came after the first one. I am heterosexual and not quite sure how it would be there since it was a quasi-sexual encounter, however I was exposed on the bed sheets. Does this sound like herpes? Thanks for your help and support. Answer: also... can herpes show up on the buttocks even if that specific area wasn't exposed? thanks. There are alot of possible things you could have had it for a long time and just now be getting outbreaks. It all depends on alot of things best thing is not to dwell on it try to take care of the blisters and see a doctor to see if it really is herpes. If it is herpes just know it isn't the end of the world it will go away. If you need anything else feel free to post all of us here enjoy helping where we can. Answer: herpes can affect the whole "boxer short region" which is why people can be infected in one area and it can show up randomly anywhere in the boxer short region, especially the butt......so just because you may have contracted it vaginally, that does not mean your outbreaks will only be in the vaginal area..........outbreaks, as well as shedding without symptoms can and does occur anywhere in the region i mentioned above. As far as the bumps being herpes, they might be outbreaks but might not be and you need to get a herpes specific blood test.........do not just settle for a culture of the bumps, as culture tests can be very innacurate based on the amount of active virus left in them at the time of the swab. So to be safe try and get cultures AND blood and if there is not anything left to culture then definitely still get the blood work. Also, keep in mind you may have not contracted herpes from the incident you described and that it is very likely you have got this before and just never shown symptoms until now. As for how you could have got it in the locations it is, the answer all relates back to the hundreds of nerve pathways in that region that the virus travels when it becomes activated and goes to the skin causing an immune reaction, which then causes symptoms such as itching, redness, bumps, etc...but everyone experiences symptoms differently. It could be that one of the bumps is herpes and one is totally unrelated too.....thats a possibility. But until you get a blood test you wont know anything for sure and if the first blood test comes back negative, then get retested via blood again in 6 weeks or more to be sure, as it can sometimes take a few weeks to months for antibodies to show up.
