length of herpes question...
Question: Can a doctor determain how long the virus has been in your system? Answer: Nope; And there is no blood test to determine how long the virus has been preset. Regards Mr Smith Answer: thanks Mr Smith... Answer: Ok, heres my problem... My wife recently has had itchiness downstairs, shes had thrush many times but thinks that this is different. She has only had sex with me and 2 other men before we got married and the same with myself... The second girl I had sex with is whats concerning me, There could be a possibility that she may have been infected, Im not sure... The sex I had with her was about 9 or 10 years ago, all this time I have never shown or felt any symptoms of any thing of the herpes nature./ To my knowledge either has my wife... She has just gotten over a bad flu that she caught from our daughter who caught it from childcare. And is extremely concerned that I might have caught something 10 years ago. Is it likely for someone to be effected for that long and not show ANY symptoms whatsoever? Answer: Oh I forgot to mention that I have asked her exactly what she is getting and she said that she does not have any sores, just major itchiness and thats about it... Answer: It's very easy to go 9+ years and not know you're infected. Most of the time an outbreak can be so mild it goes unnoticed or misdiagnosed as jock itch or yeast infection. Don't worry about 9 years ago, just take of you and your wife today. If you both wanna know your complete status, you should both get tested with an IgG type specific blood test. HerpeSelect is the most common in the US. Be sure and get hard copies of the results so you can post them if you have questions. At this point in time, you'll never be able to tell just who got what when and by who. It's very possible that both of you only have HSV1, but she also has Genital HSV1. Don't look at being tested as a means to point the finger, rather, look at it a means to know what if any precautions are necessary for now and the future. Regards Mr Smith Answer: My doc told me that it is possible to find out if you were currently infected through a little trouble shooting. When they test they see the antibodies to the virus. They get an exact number for the antibodies. If they were recently infected then the antibodies would go up, and if you got tested again you could see if they did. If they stay the same this meens your body has found a sufficent amount of antibody and has had the virus for some time now. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
