But I don't get cold sores!
Question: I have been diagnosed with HSV2 via a blood test. I believe I contracted it over 20 years ago. I tested negative for HSV1 on the same blood test. I know I have genital and now I fear I have it orally, too. I fear the latter because twice in the past 10 years or so the middle of my upper lip has swollen a great deal and I can't image what else it would be. I never seen anyone else have this kind of thing but if they are like me, they hide in their homes when it happens. I've never had anything like a traditional cold sore. When my lip has swollen it never "weeped" or cause any scabbing. My lip would stay swollen for 3-5 days gradually reducing in size until it was normal. I've looked at the pictures of oral outbreaks and have never had anything that looks like those photos but I understand everyone reacts differently. Is there a test to confirm oral HSV2 without a lesion? I fear I've been transmitting my hsv2 to other people's mouths or genitals via kissing or oral sex although no one I know has ever said anything about catching it either from me or anywhere else. But then again this isn't something people talk about easily, either. Answer: Ask for a western blot test. But sounds like they already did a test?? Answer: I had a blood draw and the lab report shows numbers for HSV I IgG, Type Spec and HSV II IgG, Type Spec. HSV I came back clearly negative and HSV II clearly positive. Is there a way to test if the infection is oral and/or genital if I don't show any symptoms? Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
