Just a few questions from a newbie

Question:
Well....I have a few questions. I am not diagnosed yet but I am very positive that I have HSV-2. This is the story. I was dating the same girl for about 18 months. I got deployed to Afghanistan about six months ago and I had the luck of getting two weeks off back home with my family and girlfriend. Naturally we had a good time together and after my two weeks was up...I went back overseas. On the plane ride back I started to get sick and very itchy red bumps started to form around my pelvic. Well...I just thought it was nothing because I’ve always used protection and I really didn’t know much about STD's. A week later I’m still sick and I’m still having problems. I went to the doctor on base but......because of where I am they can’t do any tests. She was very reassuring that it was nothing but after doing a lot of research I think I need to be tested. So...that is my first question: is there a way of getting tested when you can’t see a doctor? I found out that my girlfriend had been cheating on me for the past six months.....I was not too surprised because that sort of thing happens a lot when people leave for over a year. It was not the fact that I got something from her but the fact that she was cheating on me that made me end the relationship. That brings me to my second question. How do you tell someone that you have herpes if you want to date them? Is it something that most people tell at first or latter.....I just want to see if anyone has any stories of dating someone who does not have herpes? Also...is it possible to give someone herpes if you are not having an out brake and how often do most people get out brakes? I guess I’m taking this whole thing ok.....I can’t change the past, I can only go forward. I do have that whole "crap....it’s going to be hard to find someone now" felling but I’m guessing that goes away after some time. I guess my last question is: what is the best medication to use and what does it prevent. Thank for reading and thanks for any help that you can give. ;)

Answer:
Hi Wolfgang ... I am very new to this as well ... I didn't know anything about herpes myself ... Everything I learned I learned here ... I thought u could see herpes ... I thought anyone who has herpes would know it but I found that is definitely not the case ...

I don't have any dating experiences yet but I wouldn't tell anyone I have herpes until we are seriously considering being intimate ...

YES herpes can be passed with out symptoms or having an outbreak

I don't know what the best regimen is as everyone is different ... I am considering purchasing products on line at www.vitacost.com ... I dont have open sores I just have alot of itching and what seems to be hair bumps ... I experienced my first pimple like outbrake last week ... It was red and very tender... I plan on purchasing Neem, L-Lysine plus, Echinacea, Red Marine Algae and olive leaf supplements ... Those products are very inexpensive there.

You can go here to get a testing kit http://www.herpes.com/PrivateDiags/index.html I'm not sure if this will work for you cause its a culture testing kit ... I think that means if you have lesions but I don't know u can check it out ...
