Cannot get IGG testing

Question:
I am very frustrated. I cannot get IGG testing. I have Medicaid and my practitioners refuse to give me a blood test. They say if I have an ob they will swab it. That's not reassurance to me, I want a blood test to see if I have antibodies HSV-1 (which is almost 100% the case) and HSV-2. Do I have to make a certain amount of money or have private insurance to get this testing???

Answer:
Go to planned Parenthood for a type-specific IgG 1&2 blood test, and they will charge you approx $90-140 depending on your ability to pay. That bill covers everything.

Answer:
You can also try to look up some free clinics in your area. Not all of them do the testing so you may want to call first.

You can also try to look up some free clinics in your area. Not all of them do the testing so you may want to call first. The free clinic here is the Medicaid clinic, and they won't give me this testing. They did test for every other STD though, and gave me a Pap.

Answer:
Once you get IgG tested, how long do you have to wait for results?

Answer:
I really want to switch gyn but I can't as I go to a Medicaid (free) clinic. He thinks that I'm overly paranoid for requesting these tests. He also said that the cold sore that I had a year ago was not a cold sore because it only lasted 3 days (he said it should've lasted 8-10). I told him it went through all the stages I know that cold sores go through, what does it matter that these all occured within 3 days? And now I feel uncomfortable around him.

Answer:
Isn't there a Planned Parenthood where you live? The people there are great, very professional. My IgG results came back in 2 days and 5 days for two different tests, but they tell you longer in case the lab takes longer.

Answer:
From what I've read a lot of doctors don't completely understand herpes and how different people have different symptoms.

The HerpeSelect blood test is pretty cheap, like $25, but maybe wherever you go will charge more for the service of taking the blood, etc. Most places that test for STD should offer the herpes blood tests for a small price extra.
