Need transmission help
Question: I was visiting a friend with a small child (2 yrs. old). I had the child on my lap and before I know it he kissed me on the cheek (it's possible he got a little of my lip). I didn't freak out or anything because I haven't told any of my friends and I don't plan to. But at the same time I'm not trying to infect anyone either. So here's my question: What's the likelihood of my giving hsv1 to the child ( I do not have a coldsore). Should I keep all children away from me and only hug them? I don't mean to sound dramatic but I'd be devastated if I infected a child (or anyone else) so I just want some real world practical advice to keep every child I come across safe. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks. Answer: If you have no indication of a cold sore at present, chances are very slim that you transferred anything to the child. The odds are seriously against it.
