Got my results todayyyy
Question: Well, as suspected...my HSV-1 came back positive...only after initially being told they both were negative....I had my doubts....and then the phone rang again........ My HSV-1 level was 5.00....supposedly the nurse said that anything over 1.10 was positive. What she didn't know was if the 5.00 level meant that I recently contracted it, or if I've had it................5.00 sounds high to me which from what I've read here means I recently contracted it...However, I have a history of having fever blisters since I was a kid....so I was assuming I've had it my whole life...... I asked her to ask the Dr. or to have the Dr. call me to see IF they can even tell that information...whether it is recent or past antibodies... =( Answer: High levels usually mean you've had it a while as opposed to being infected in the last month or so. Answer: My doctor told me that it depends on the test used, that the labs all use different levels and cut offs depending on the test used. Not sure if this is correct, but that's what I was told.
