I'm not positive what this is

Question:
I have something that should be genital herpes, but it doesn't seem to match what I learn about it on the Internet entirely. If someone could confirm for me that this could be herpes, I would appreciate it greatly.

The reason I say that it SHOULD be is that I have only had any sort of sexual contact with one girl, and she hasn't had contact with anybody else. She doesn't have any genital diseases, but she picked up cold sores from her mom. I gather that this is a good way to transmit this sort of thing.

Every once in a great while I get a bump that is essentially a really bad pimple. It usually goes away in a week or two, although the area is tender for longer than that, and I get them no more than once every couple of months, sometimes longer. I never get more than one, and I have never gotten any of the other symptoms whatsoever.

Based on my situation, I can't see how I could have contracted anything else. Could someone confirm for me that herpes could look like this?

Also, if it is herpes, can I give my girlfriend genital herpes if she already has the mouth sort?

Thanks for any help

Answer:
Since you've been experiencing this for a while you should get yourself to the dr and get a Herpeselect blood test.

If you have a positive result you will know what is causing those annoying painful pimples. Most coldsores are hsv1 but not always.

It is very likely that if your gf has coldsores that she could have transmitted the virus to your genitals when performing oral sex and if this is true yes she can get it genitally from you and vice versa.

Get the test done. The result to look for is the IgG. The Western Blot is another excellent and reliable test if it is available to you.
