Do you know what this test means??

Question:
The test I took was HSV 1/2 IGG, Herpes Select..

Anybody know what this means??

its says >.5.0 for Herpes simplex one and two ??
then its says Lab is IG

can anyone help?

Answer:
Look for lilannes post she asked the same question and she had a 5.0 as well. A man named Mr.smith replied to her with a good response. After reading his response. Basically I don't think it matters....I'm trying to figure out how I got it. My recent partner is being a complete jerk and won't get tested.

Answer:

My recent partner is being a complete jerk and won't get tested. it's okay my bf won't go get tested either he said there's no point if I go get tested and am positive then he will but if I test and am negative he can't have anything. I keep trying to explain to him that while I may have it he won't and vice versa meaning if I don't have it he could and regardless if my result is negative he still needs to be tested to make sure. He's never had any tests in his life before and I know he's confident he has nothing because i'm the only girlfriend and sexual partner he's had in about 3 years, it still doesn't mean anything. I doubt he has anything either because something more in likely would've popped up by now but you never know.

Answer:
gal24,

A proper Herpes test has two results, one for HSV1 and one for HSV2, thus the term 'type specific' test.

If you have a single result for IgG I/II, then it means it was a combination test. A combination test isn't much help cause it can't tell you exactly what you have. And since over 60-80% of the world population has oral HSV1, they'll test positive on a combination test.

Hope this helps.

Mr Smith
