does this sound or look like herpes in your opinion? or just a zit?

Question:
Hello guys, I would be very grateful if you could read this and tell me in your opinion if the symptoms point to herpes, My doctor didn't know. I just got back from getting blood drawn for the herpeselect test, and regardless i have a dermatologist appt tommorow, but I REALLY dont think this could be herpes, it doesn't look like any pictures I've found of HSV, and it doesnt sound like any description ive found here of it. Here goes, (PS: the images are cropped so they arent graphic)

6 days ago I noticed what looked like a mosquito bite with a whitehead in the center, or large zit that was a little pink and irritated but not much. I popped it like a zit and white puss came out, it was completely white not yellow... I wasn't too alarmed--I've had smaller zits in my pubic region. However this one was on the lower side of my penis, and a bit larger then the tiny zits I've had before. It bled a tiny bit more then I expected it too when popped, and healed a bit different--I monitored it healing closely and I'm almost sure it didn't scab. At no point did it look like a herpe legion or cold sore or anything. At this point it looks entirely healed or closed up but it left a (?shinier), slightly raised light pink bump of skin where it was originally, it doesn't look like a scar to me. I have no other symptoms, and I don't remember it itching or hurting.
Here is a picture of the bump it left behind:

From what I've read herpes scab over, is it possible to have an HSV-2 spot that looks & pops like a zit, has white puss, doesn't scab, and completely closes up 5 days later leaving a small bump of skin? (this bump is what worries me)

its possible that there is one more smaller zit/bump i popped in the same area, but its too small to tell.

The things that look like small zits in the past didnt worry me, but thinking back when i popped these the whitehead seemed to be more solid/squishy and tiny (unlike the one i have now), these other spots on my pubic region rarely leave behind a light pink dot that looks like this pic but ARENT raised:

In fear of having HSV, Could you tell me if any of this is likely to be HSV? or sounds like your own HSV positive symptoms or any HSV breakouts you've had or heard about?

It really did just look like a beastly zit, excluding the bump it left behind... and from the pictures I can find on the net if it looks like it could be anything, it looks like molluscum contagiosum without the depression in the center/ filled with puss.

Thanks,
Jacob E.

I have something that looks exactly like the first picture. I have had it for about 3 years +, i think? or thats when i first noticed it. Its a flesh colored raised oval shaped bump (painless and itchless), you have to really look for it (I noticed it when i had my first herpes scare two years ago). I popped it and a strand of firm white waxy puss came out. 2 years later i popped it again and more puss came out. Sort of like a pimple that has been there a long time or a infected hair follicle. I had a friend that said he got something similar by sharing a towel in the gym during elementary school. Its amazing what you will find if you look hard enough. Alot of stuff goes on in that area. Other guys can chime in.

Anyways I don't think this sounds at all like herpes or HPV.

-Herpes sores are typically painful and go away then come back. This definitely does not sound like herpes and i wouldn't sweat a blood test. Well actually you probably already have herpes and it most likely has nothing to do with this sore IMO.

-You Cant pop HPV sores, so thats out

-If its anything Molluscum Contagiosum is the best candidate, another common skin condition. Fortunately, you wont have to live with it forever but can take a long time to go away, up to five years (Usually 1-2 years) and you can spread it while it is present on the skin. Google molluscum contagiosum and you will find some therapies that can supposedly get rid of it in a few months. The doctor i went to said it could be Molluscum Contagiosum, a ingrown hair follicle, a pimple or a thousand other things. The doctor said Molluscum Contagiosum usually has a flat top though so who knows. There is no blood test for Molluscum Contagiosum, and swab tests are sometimes accurate. then you need a biopsy to be sure. Skin cancers, warts, infections, and a number of other skin conditions can mimic this infection though. Its usually not tested for unless it creates a problem

Ultimately the only one that can give you a answer is your doctor. But i wouldn't sweat it.

Answer:
Apparantly the dermatologist thinks it could be molluscum, he sounded pretty positive and has been in the practice 44 years, so I'm going to trust his word and wait for my blood results alot less frantically then before. He said its the least severe case of molluscum hes seen in his career and based on that should go away in a number of weeks because my immune system is fighting it really well (thank god).

I guess I have to pop them like zits to remove the core, and read something about using acid solutions & duct tape over night to do it most efficiently.

I'm just happy regardless at this point that Its less likely that I have HSV, and this is curable.

I'd also like to say that I appreciate the response and views this thread got, I can only imagine based on how ive been feeling the past week how those of you that are HSV positive must feel now, I will return to post my blood results and from this experience regardless I will be around this forum to lend my support if and when I can,

God Bless,
Jacob E

hi there, I am sorry to be a downer and tell you that the bumps in the pubic hair look identical to the bumps i have in my pubic hair region..........had this "rash" like thing for over 2 years and no doc. at first ever would believe or say it was herpes.....got a blood test to be sure and it was hsv2....unbelievable...or so i thought. My bumps never scab or have any defined stages. Never once! Anyhow, my point is that even today, with a clear blood diagnosis, some doctors I go to and see it DO NOT believe it is herpes....even still. It is not typical, like text book, but more and more there are different substrains of both type 1 and 2 and it appears very different in different people. I have searched for over 2 years to find a picture of exactly what my symptoms look like and never have seen a pic until i saw the pic of the bumps in you pubic hair region....it is so identical to the bumps i have that it could theoretically be a photo of my own problem. I just wanted to write this, just in case you do find out you have herpes......because a lot of doctors today, sadly, still judge what is herpes and what isnt by out of date 'typical" characteristics and symptoms which are not a good standard by any means to go on, and often leave people miseducated and given a false thought that they do not have herpes, when they very well do. I hope you dont have it, but get a second blood test just in case if the first one is negative. If it is negative, and they find out what it is you have, could you please send me a private message telling me the diagnosis. I have struggled for over 2 years wondering if the bumps/rash i see in the pubic hair is herpes, or something else coinciding with herpes. Pleas let me know, good luck.

This is definitely not HVS symptoms in my opinion, nobody has painless sores lasting for two years. Im also not sure what you are calling a rash? that could be a HVS symptom. Do they pop solid white puss? Im sure these bumps are not connected with HVS. If you are really curious go to the doc and have them pop one and test the fluid. Ultimately, 25% of the population had HVS Type 2 and there is really no way of knowing weather or not that bump is from herpes, but i would say its pretty unlikely. You could easily have it orally as well if you are asymptomatic. But when people learn they have it, they definitely pay a lot more attention to there genitals, which results in finding a lot of stuff you didn't know was there. But i don't think you have a herpes outbreak that lasts 2+ years. I would definitely get this checked out by a doctor if its bothering you.
