Damnit....

Question:
Well I'm officially pissed... I did call about the case of my STD screening... I was curious if I they really did screen for herpes or not... I found out that they didn't. No they just drew about two vials of blood from me thats all, didn't even bother to check for that despite I went in at first saying "I want to be screened for any and all STD's I might have." Oh and the reason why they didn't test for it at the time was because of the small questioner they gave me to start with "Does it burn when you pee?" no... "Have you had any outbreaks?" no... Well guess what, what that really meant was guess I should just omit testing for herpes then unless he says something to test for it. Yeah like they really teach you that or stress that so much in the first place. Whats the statistic again for people who have herpes and don't even know it because they haven't had signs of an outbreak 60% or something close to that right? Well gee.... I fucking wonder why its that high? (insert sarcasm).

I'm sorry to anyone who did take the time to read this, I was just pissed off and wanted to vent about it.

Answer:
That's what the forum is for, to vent and ask questions. I have never been able to understand why doctors don't test for this either. My only theory is that soooo many people have this and they really consider this a nuisance disease because in the end, we can't get rid of it and other than the OB's there's nothing life threatning about it (unless you're pregnant then it's a real issue for the baby). That's my opinion anyway.

Answer:
I couldn't agree with your rant more. At least if they did test for this and we all knew we had it, we could take some steps to protect those who don't and POSSIBLY avoid the 75% statistic in the next generation! Instead, sadly, that number will probably just go up.

Bitch at the doctor! Bitch at us! Get it out, cause WE AGREE! :)

Answer:
I totally agree. My doctor told me just that- if someone comes in to be disease tested, they do not test for Herpes, only if you say you have some kind of symptom. Yeah, I wonder why so many people have it? So now I'm thinking about calling the office and asking if I can have the test just for curiousity.

Answer:
I agree w/you 110%. I specifically went in w/lesions and asked for everything. They conveniently left out the HSV test on my blood and felt that the culture was better.. How ignorant, if they drew the blood w.my culture I may know if it was my first outbreak I did give them hell on the phone. This is a cruel joke that someone is playing on my life.

Answer:
Well, that's just ignorant. Especially when 1 in 5 people have it.
I was fortunate to be tested by Planned Parenthood in Ks and TN previous. And so I'm pretty sure this is my first outbreak. Especially since the rash appeared 5 days after sex with a new partner.
My doctor however, looked at the rash and said it didn't look like atypical anything. But took a swab to be sure.
She told me, that even though I saw no sores on his penis or elsewhere, that we always shed the virus and he may have passed it to me anyway. During an outbreak, it is almost 100% to pass. Is that true? I've read here that it's 4% chance to pass without an outbreak, with my luck that's enough.
Is it possible for me to remarry and never pass the virus to my partner, if I don't have sex during an outbreak?
I fear the reaction that the one woman said about her partner, going ballistic and washing 30minutes. Can I have sex with condoms and not mention it until we are gonna be together longterm? I've never liked oral on myself, so that isn't a problem.
